As others have said the art is very unique and very pretty. I love that the dialogs and other UI elements in the game match the ASCII art style. I also thought it was great to have that opening area as a way to play with the movement mechanics. The color coding was really helpful for figuring out where I could jump. I did struggle a bit getting up the electrical tower. Not sure if I was missing something easier or not, but I tried to get up by double jumping and going out and in again, and that was a bit tough because if I missed it I died.

Forgot to add that I especially love the palette’s you chose, the colors look so good with the rest of the art. Good work on the progress you made during this jam. It looks like a lot went into it.

Developer

Thanks a lot very glad you played :) <3. The movements are sure a tough point in the game for the time being :( BUT more clear/simple/efficient movement mechanics on the way (I hope so) for the after-jam ;)

ADEL YOU RULE SO MUCH!!!! THIS IS AMAZING!

The theme: the graphics, the audio, everything is so STRONG! This feels so carefully crafted, everything feels deliberate and precise.

The movement is incredible. For being a platformer, I enjoy having very precise controls and this has it. It also is forgiving as well, which I love!

Amazing job!!! We love you T_T <333

Omg thank you so much <3 :) that warms my (ascii drawed) heart for real :)

You're welcome!!! :D

Aunque no inventa nada nuevo, los gráficos ASCII están muy logrados. La música encaja bastante bien y la jugabilidad es apropiada para este tipo de estética. Buen trabajo en general.

gracias :)

The art style was unique and I love the rolling antigravity mechanic. It is not my usual platformer, but it was a unique experience that I may give it a shot at once again. The only thing that annoyed me was that I did not have fall damage, so once I collected all 100 coins for the bus, I leaped off the clouds part then died, but this is my fault. Great game

Developer

Thanks a lot :) ! Fall damage currently is sure not very well designed T_T you're not the only one that have this feeling X). This is one of the aspects I'll make sure to polish in the (may) futures after-jam updates. Thanks again for the feedback :)

You pet a dog to reset the level. 10/10, would recommend :-D

I did really appreciate the ascii art style, it was quite well done, and not something I'm used to seeing.

Developer

:) thanks for the sweet comments :)

This game is unique. It is unlike any other game I have ever played. Absolutely recommended.

Great job!

Hi there! I played through to the wizard I failed to find the item he was asking me for though... to be honest I forgot to look for it I was so engrossed with getting the coins fast enough to just make it to the next level! I had a bunch of fun with this game. The visuals are fantastic the ascii is very very well done. I think the controls are a bit tough to master. But, I weirdly I loved it? So I find it odd for me to comment about it but I feel thoughts about how it feels to someone else may help you get some insight into it! Great job and I hope you continue to improve on this!

Developer

Thanks alot :) I agree with you on the controls (and other players too), they are kind of interesting that way but still need work ! (btw if you find the item there is a reward at the end ;) )

The game reminds me of Sanctuary RPG on steam, except you're actually going for an action and platformer here.

Developer(+1)

I love so much this game :) ! Look stone story if you haven't done so already, no direct action but marvellous world / gameplay and ascii art ! I found warsim also recently a sort of Sanctuary RPG in a civilaztion/strategy way

Super ornate world and intriguing intro. I love your usage of your engine and the world you built with it. I was a little confused what the purpose of the space bar action. I kept dying to fall damage while I learn some of the tricky platforming as I battle the fps and the sorta concrete/non-interpolated position the character moves to as you move him. I did manage to get 100 coins eventually after about 6 attempts.

(^◞^;) <-- happy but sweating a little. Thanks a lot :) and sorry for hazardous performances and difficulty ! A custom web engine in one month to display ascii is probably a little too over the top... But thanks a lot for the feedback I may continue developing this game and stability / move-collisions usability / level design will probably be first priority !

Btw neon critters looks great I've downloaded it ! Its on my soon playtest list

Such a great game, good job! The ascii art is incredibly well done and the the background music helps to give everything a slightly surreal feel. I definitely need to give it another play through as I missed the object that the Magician was looking for!

My only feedback would be that the fall-death mechanic may need revisiting - it's very difficult to judge exactly how far you can fall, and in some levels you cannot see what is below you. Maybe the ability to "look down" (like in other platformer games) would be useful? Someone on stream also suggested that maybe falling could "stun" the player for a few seconds instead of killing them, so you lose some time, but I'm not sure if that would make the game too easy.

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) I have noted all this (for why not continuing the game :D) and thank you again for the stream / feedback streams from you and viewers :)

Thanks alot ! :) Your feedback is precious ! I currently am very worried about performance but I really want to output actual text and I don't know to make compatible this factor with performance. I am thinking of getting out of web envrionnement to use some sort of custom made terminal emulator but I really don't how... Maybe after the prototpye/demo beta don't know. Concerning the jump behaviour/collision flaws I'll will soon update with maybe something better may I notice you when I'll do that ? The art style is very temporary I even think of making all the levels squelettons before really drawing it. For the death I really don't If I want a game where you cann die or actually kill something... I really hesitate. Thanks again (and btw I feedback your game not to necesseraly get some in exchange but just because you ask for it in the title x) and I will feedback again If you like)
