Very challenging, but fun, game! I included it in my LowRezJam compilation, if you’d like to take a look :)

Fun little game, good job !

I love the retro look and feel. Maybe a more dynamic camera as some others have mentioned or maybe a "danger" indicator if that path will transition to a monkey would help balance the difficulty a little bit.

A bit difficult at first but once you get the hang of it it gets really interesting and challenging. Nice job!

This is really difficult! I could only ever get a couple batteries before I died. The apes also kept getting me during/after screen transitions, which seems a little unfair. The graphics and sound were cute!

I liked it. Sort of like Pac Man.  Doing a maze game like this in such a small resolution is hard. I think I might have ramped up the difficulty more slowly by starting with fewer batteries. I liked the ape sound effects!

Nice. Only thing that I would change is make camera dynamically follow the player for better awareness of the situation. Funny but my own game is a bit similar, especially in the name: Escape from Zone 64 :-)

Developer

thx for your comment
During development I've change the camera to follow the player but it was to easy.
I also experimented with a [!] sign on the border to show the monkey place.
I didn't like it because it moves away gameplay feeling (anticipate the situation, risk assessment )
