Nice. Only thing that I would change is make camera dynamically follow the player for better awareness of the situation. Funny but my own game is a bit similar, especially in the name: Escape from Zone 64 :-)

During development I've change the camera to follow the player but it was to easy.
I also experimented with a [!] sign on the border to show the monkey place.
I didn't like it because it moves away gameplay feeling (anticipate the situation, risk assessment )
