Did you work in a team?
Solo. Just me under different aliases. :)
Was the resolution a challenge?
I'm using Unity, which is not pixel-based. Therefore it is important to make sure every moving objects in the game (character, bullet, camera, transition, etc.) is pixel-rounded and there's no sub-pixel movement. It ensures the game confirm to 64 x 64 pixels, regardless of the screen resolution and scaling.
Having scrolling platforming as the main mechanic, the level view is obscured by the limitation of the window size.
Using various visual cues allow the player to be aware of what is around the character.
What did you learn?
Working with the window limitations pushes the level design challenge to the extreme. Continuous playtesting teach me to design with spatial awareness and subtle cues in limited spaces.

Very cute game! I included it in my LowRezJam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Oh wow! Really nice video! Thanks for checking it out!
A great little arcade game~ The feeling of the movement is just right, and although it's difficult, it seems fair for the most part. Additionally, the music and graphics are both well-done and tie everything together- I'll be sure to play this one more!
Innovative gameplay mechanic with very impressive level design and smooth controls. The pixel art is amazing! The only issue I had is with the last level — the 2nd form of the big boss having random actions felt somewhat out of place, and produced some awkward situations, such as dying immediately after re-spawning due to a spiked ball being dropped at the exact same time. Overall, awesome entry, congratz!
Very beautiful and addictive game, the mechanics used are simple and challenging and the game makes you want to keep playing, congratulations on the work.
Wow, nice job on this! the mechanics and everything are a ton of fun and you can never go wrong when your main character is a cat 😉
The only real issue I had is that the kitty death sound gets pretty annoying after a while. I played through the whole thing but a couple of the later levels I did die quite a few times and had to hear that sound a lot and it's not pleasant.
Thanks so much for checking it out! Yeah I got the similar feedback about the kitty sound as well. I will try to change it to something less painful sound. 😅
Completed the game. Awesome concept. Loved that things were clearly color coded so I knew instantly want would kill me and what I could slash jump off of
Thanks so much for checking it out! Glad you like it!
Very cute but difficulty is quite high… idk how many times I died until I saw the spikes at lvl 6, bad contrast to bg (intentional maybe? ;)). Getting used to timing in the late levels can take several deaths. Overall a nice experience, good job!
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah I guess the spikes on later level on the ceiling could be clearer. I should have made a clearer visual for those. 😅
Nice little platformer with a cute kitty animation! I'm pretty hopeless at this type of game but enjoyed the first four levels. Well done!
Thanks so much for checking it out! If it's too hard, press the number 0 on the level selection to unlock all levels :p
The parry mechanic is decently fun and responsive and the game is fairly challenging, fun! in it's current state there seems to be things that go beyond 64x64 res such as the screen size and level transition text, but i'm not sure if those will count against the game or not; I don't have the rules engrained in my head. I'd really like to see this game qualify for the jam, though.
Thanks for checking it out! The extra area around the game is only for making it mobile friendly control, and not used by the game, so hope that's fine. It's quite challenging working on pixel level in Unity, but I made sure every movement in the game is pixel rounded. The text is unfortunately auto-scaled by Unity :p
