Did you work in a team?
Programming by me (GIST), art by Brendan Steppig (@looloopaa), music by Pinci (@MrPinci19), sound effects by AdamAudio (@AudioTryhard). It was great to work together on this!

Was the resolution a challenge?
Once the sprite size was established (12x12), a lot of gameplay difficulties I was expecting went away. One challenge was finding a clear, readable font for this resolution, and keeping text to a minimum.

What did you learn?
I knew I wanted to work with a style of game I had not tried before... I learned more about auto-scrolling games and level generation!

Nice game! The music and visual style is awesome. My only problem is the spin atack. When you use it you have some frames in which you can't make any input. It would be nice if the animation was shorter or if you could cancel those last frames with a jump.

That was fun and it worked with the bluetooth xbox controller i recently got without any extra setup.

From the moment it started it really felt like a NES super-hit, superb sound and classic style. The game itself is very fun to play. Wonderful entry!

Amazing game, a bit difficult at the start bur it's an awesome concept with nice music and art!

Really cute little running game!  It has somewhat of a Japanese feel I think.  Something about the music and art style which are both amazing.  I only feel a little bad killing all the cute little animals!  I also really like the cymbal crash when the player hits the ground.  Seriously amazing job!

What a stunning entry. The art and music here are excellent, with every animation being well considered, along with every sound down to the healer's cymbal crash when the thunk their head on the ground. Something about the downwards vertical scroll breaks my brain a little bit, so I set it to slow mode but still found it engaging and challenging. Committing to the jumps or the gourd swings for enemies or obstacles makes for constant twitch decision making. Really well done!

Wow!!

This looks and sounds amazing, so nostalgic. The art style, sound design, and music were really knocked out of the park!

The spin attack felt bad to use though, and there were several times where I spun into a hippo but nothing happened because the hotboxes were too small. My only other complaint was that stages felt a little too long, and you didn't move on till the old one started to get a little tiring which hurt replayability.

Overall though, an excellent jam submission!! Really impressive, and practically a finished game already :)

Awesome art and music! I also really enjoyed the gameplay, I just suck at games like these haha. The game has a really polished feel to it, it's amazing. Is there a way to play in windowed mode though? My screen is on the bigger side and it made a few things hard to track for my eyes.

Spectacular art and music! I couldn't tell whether it was difficult in a skill-based way or an unfair way (would love to see a video of the programmer playing it on Normal). The variety of stages kept me there for more than an hour, whereas if it was an endless runner I would have rage quit pretty quickly.

This felt really authentic - i think it could be improved in a number of ways - mainly it's difficulty. Maybe the level could slowly speed up, or maybe obstacles can become more numerous as the level goes on. overall well done though, reminds me of pocky and rocky in a way! awesome!
