This feels (deliberately, I expect) very Spectrum-ish as a game, especially the colour blocking and font. It's very basic, but it certainly works; I remember playing games similar to this back in the 80s. The music is a bit too repetitive, but for what this is the game certainly works.

I'm pretty sure I played a game like this before in this jam. I also remember rating it. Anyway, this is really cool like the other one was, well Done!

PS: If you have the time, please try out my entry https://itch.io/jam/lowrezjam-2018/rate/293637 (don't forget to rate it : ) )

Cheers

Played this directly after its predecessor. Such a weird situation - I don't think I've ever seen someone's jam entry be a sequel to a game they entered in the same jam! Unsurprisingly, this is a lot better - appreciated the ability to shoot vertically and the continued authenticity to the 80s computer limitations both of your games were based off. Could not get past the "boss" though. Good job (again)!

Well I just did some updates to engine graphics took one day redrawn and boss was just some prebuild events in engine. Tip to beat boss just stay at bottom of map and shoot as fast as bossible up.

I like how it really looks and sounds like one of those ZX Spectrum games.

Music was created with software made for spectrum while graphics are not authenthic because its hard to simulate that on nowdays hardware.

Going to post my thoughts on both games here for concision's sake.

These are both pretty nifty. I really dig the glitchy spectrum-port looking graphics, and the music's spot on.

I like how the combat feels different in both games. Like, sure, you can fire in all directions in Soldier, but in knight you can kill multiple enemies with a single shot. It would be neat to see one more level of depth, like combo or accuracy bonuses, or some kind of powerup. Having a couple levels to beat would be nice too. But the games are nice as-is.

Thanks for feedback I thinking about game where Iam gonna merge best of these two with powerups for combos and more level based structure with some story trown in. But problem would be graphicks because its so hard to simulate clash in current computers let alone in engine I use. Sure I could simulate other 80-90s computer or console but Specky is special to me. So thanks for playing and just check some other of my games. Thank you very much.

I personally prefer the Knight theme but the gameplay in this one is so much better, the death animation seems pretty cool too.

Thanks for playiing. This game is kinda like successor to Knight just added some tweaks in engine, still these games are just concepts.
