Really like the unique art style. I didn't get the ghost hint mechanic so I just played it like a regular memo game - which I haven't played in ages so this felt nostalgic, thanks :D
I noticed a glitch / exploit - you can peek the symbol by clicking on a covered card and then moving away the cursor while still holding the left mouse button pressed - this reveals the symbol but doesn't count as a click.
Ohhh thank you for finding it! It's probably because of some faulty combination of textures from textureButton with the signals I'm using, I'll look into it! And thanks for playing:DD
Loved the art style the whole clay aesthetic really sets this apart from everything I've seen in the jam, seeing the replies to other comments where you showed off your work was cool, can really tell you put in a lot of work in the art department.
Not a fan of the question system, I get there's some cipher or logic to it but it was easier for me to just use that as the hint for where the shape isn't. Ended up just ditching it and played it as a regular memory match game. Found the switching of the panels as you fail a neat consequence for just clicking around aimlessly, I see that being the main push to the question system which I would've used more if I could understand it.
Great work with this one!
Thank you for playing! I realised while testing that the ghost's question system might actually be not very intuitive for most people and can therefore make the game a bit confusing. I decided to add the mechanic as I was worried that a normal memo game could be too easy. I hope that playing it as a regular memo was still fun and a bit challenging:) Thanks for the feedback!
So I wanted to ask about how you created this unique visual style, then I saw it in the comments below and I just have to say wow, truly amazing. I also drew my sprites on paper then scanned them, there's something nice about creating something on your desk and then seeing it on the screen, "alive".
The gameplay itself was straightforward, I don't see this genre very often, so it was refreshingly original (at least for me). I get that lying was part of the wildcards, but I felt like asking the ghosts for help wasn't really helping because I could not determine in any way if it was true or not and otherwise the room for mistakes was very low. Of course this can be the inteded difficulty, but for me, it ended up as a source of frustration.
Overall, congratulations on the game, looks very nice, plays smooth, even if it's a bit difficult for me.
There's a cipher hidden behind the ghost's lying. It's like he's telling you the truth with extra steps. So you've gotta crack the cipher with trial and error and once you get it the questions are gonna start to help you a lot. Also, the board stays the same no matter how much you replay, so you get as many tries as you want to figure out the code:)
Alright, that sounds interesting, I'll give it another shot!
I truly admire this very well made art style! It is such an original idea to craft something IRL and put it into a game. It reminded me of Yoshi Story as well as some fun little mini games from the early 2000s.
The gameplay is basic, with a nice twist. I enjoyed it very much, thank you for this submission! <3
Thank you!! The aesthetics of early 2000s' games was definitely an inspiration for this one:) Glad that you enjoyed it!!
PS. It's so nice to see the creators of my favourite game from the past jam testing my game now:D Thank you guys!
I didn't really get the questions mechanic but i still finished it like a normal game of memory loll
I loved the artstyle !! We need more cool animation techniques like this in games....
Haha that's also one way to do it:) Thanks for playing, glad you finished it!
Wow, the art style is amazing! How did you manage to create game assets out of plasticine? Great work!
Thank you!! I basically first sculpted the objects and then took pictures and coloured/edited them on an ipad:) Here's how they looked at first:
I'm glad you like them:D
Really unique art style. you don't see this often I really dig what you did. the matching aspect of the game was actually kinda difficult i don't think i passed the first stage really
Thanks for playing:) I didn't want to make the game too easy and might have gone too far in the opposite direction haha
I absolutly love the Art of the Haunted House where the Intro Story is told. Amazing
Incredibly to put such "clayart?" together for a jam.
The only thing i dislike is the Font, maybe it is very hard to find a Font which matches something like clay, but in thi case maybe a custom font is needed.
Thank you!! The house is a coloured wooden model that I made and the rest of the game is out of plasticine:)
As for the font I had a lot of trial of different ones and at the end this one seemed to be the best choice. Additional challenge here was that it had to support both Polish and French special characters for the translations to work properly as I wanted to keep the font consistent between different language versions.
Good game. I enjoyed it and like the art style.
Thanks for checking it out!
Wonderful, and inspiring. I love the art. I love love love it.
Thank you for playing and for the kind words:) Glad you enjoyed it!
This is a very interesting and clever game. A pleasant surprise for those who like puzzles and riddles.
The only criticism I would make is the initial menu, the "quit" button doesn't make sense in the browser and causes the game to crash. Furthermore, the menu moving up and down makes it difficult to click, I clicked "quit" by mistake.
The artistic style is not my favorite, but it seems very well done and made with a lot of love. Congratulations on the final result!
Thank you for playing!! The quit button was made with an initial intention of building the game for mac and windows but I ended up making only the browser version .
