That's a solid game. The inputs came natural, the movement was all around good! But I wish there were some textures, or color variations. Some times I couldn't see the cliffs or obstacles.
Either way, great effort! :)

Developer

Agreed. Mostly a time factor, but also a skill one. None of us are artists or level designers, so we were kinda bumbling our way through both. Started to get a better feel by the end, but I wish we had more time to fix up the worst areas in terms of visual clarity and difficulty. A great learning experience though!

It's cool when you can chain together attack and keep going higher and higher. Simple to pick up and play!

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This was very fun to play! It's certainly very polished as it is, especially for a game jam game. I feel like with a little more polishing, it could be a full commercial release! I have a suggestion, though. I found that the mouse sensitivity was a little too high for my taste, and the options did not have anything for adjusting the sensitivity. Other than that, great job!

Developer

Thank you so much, that's really good to hear. A mouse sensitivity slider was a definite oversight, and i've added one for the post-jam update, as well as a few other things. Thanks again for the great feedback!

Developer

Oh, what I would've given for more polish time. Especially after seeing the winners of the jam. Will definitely be hard scheduling a landing phase next time!

Your atack dash is very useful.
Great game

Developer

Thanks so much for giving it a play!

Reminds me of Neon White. It's way cool punching angels in the face and the designs are weird and interesting and uhh, eldritch, in the way angels can be. The character controller was good and the sound design is effective. I really liked all the silly achievements for doing things as simple as playing two times or opening the options menu :D

I couldn't get past level 2 which is a shame because I really wanted to see the rest. Great work

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! Neon White was one of the inspirations for sure. Yeah, after watching some friends play, Stage 2 DEFINITELY fell into the "designer got too good at his own game" abyss. Ah well. More testing time (and LD experience) would've come in handy! Glad you liked the game though!

COOL Game. Wish I could double jump wall and do all the angel in one go.

Developer

We thought about doing a double jump and/or a wall jump. Time constraints left those on the cutting room floor. Maybe someday! Thanks for playing!

Love the design of the angels and the clattering noise when their crystals fall to the ground on death! Also, the crosshair being a literal cross is a nice touch, plus the fact that it inverts when highlighting an enemy.

  • The time slow when using an attack really helps with combo-ing dashes back-to-back.
  • The achievement facts are so funny (I cackled a bit when I saw the "Pee break" achievement while writing this comment)
  • The design for both God and the angels are so cool.

Some adjustments that I think would improve the game even more:

  • I noticed that the camera cannot be turned during movement dashes. Allowing the camera to move would make it easier to aim a followup attack during a dash.
  • Some horizontal damping when moving in the air would make course-correcting a jump easier.
  • Admittedly, the dash attack does feel just a teeny bit too short. This is mostly a personal preference though.
  • Beating level 1, exiting to the main menu, then beating level 1 again leads directly to the final boss.
Developer

Thank you so much for the excellent feedback! I'm really glad you liked it. Great catch on that last bug, already found the culprit and fixed it. I also added in some accessibility features, like increasing slowdown time (i also like a bit more here) that we can update when the jam ends. Thanks again

Developer

Excellent feedback! I didn't even notice you couldn't rotate the cam during the movement dash. I wanted to keep the Dash Attack from being *too* far, but probably did err on the side of caution a bit. All great notes for next steps!

Loved the base mechanics, it's simple but very satisfying at the same time. Also, very interesting design of angels 😅

I could only reach halfway through the second level, but I had a lot of fun trying

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, had to come up with something for the enemies that a non-artist like me could whip up in time. XD
Also, I think Stage 2 might suffer a bit from "designer's gotten too good at this" syndrome. Just tried to really expand what the player can do with the mechanics by the end.

The core gameplay feels really satisfying when you chain together a string of attacks and I also enjoyed the platforming aspect, great work!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, the dash attack chain was definitely the core of the mechanics design, so glad you found it satisfying! Gotta Go Fast!

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Very cool and nicely responsive. I couldn’t get far without inverted mouse unfortunately!

Developer

Ah darn that is unfortunate! Wish I could update this thing cause that is a really easy accommodation to make.

Loved the verticality on this! Once I got the controls figured out (I thought the mouse sensitivity was a little fast) I was able to get decently high! I thought the sound effects were really well done and I'm excited to see if you plan to develop this further!

Developer

Hey thank you so much! I'm really glad you like it! Mouse sensitivity slider was something I meant to add, too. Thank you for your feedback
