Congrats on the submission!

The jump gravity felt too much in certain scenarios. Also, a tip, don't make the death animation for the character too long for games like these; it can lead to unnecessary frustration to the player waiting for an animation to finish when repeating the same thing over and over again.

Good game and interesting mechanic, I felt like the "damage zone" hitbox is too exact, like I died 4 to 6 times in the second level, I like the expressions of the candle depending on its size, good job!

Super fun game. I loved how my height was tied to my life. I appreciate including some easy maps for people like me who suck at pixel-perfect platforming.

Very creative platformer/puzzle game, really enjoyed it and the candle looks so cute too

Short but a really fun puzzle game. You sometimes have to be really fast to control for some stages.

Suggestion: Try adding coyote timer or jump buffer the the game to add some help to the players

Developer

Thanks! There is a slight coyote timer on the player, buuuut i think i didnt spend enough time tweaking it just right, and ended up making it a little too short. Probably gonna play with a lot of those values when i get around to it

This was neat. I loved the graphics and the animations, especially the cute shrinking animation. This was a tough platformer (for me, at least). I kept missing jumps by a few pixels and sliding into the coals.

This was a very clever puzzle platformer. The controls felt a little bit slidey, but I enjoyed the clever use of wax melting in the level design. Very well done!

Developer

thanks for the feedback! yeah, i was trying to tune the slide-y nature of the controls to feel right when changing direction mid sprint, but in doing so i think i went a little too hard on the slipperiness of regular movements and lost some of the precision platforming elements. something i hope to refine for sure

Good work in this one. It's a simple and fun game. And the mechanics a very well implemented!

What I appreciate most about this game is its truly original level design. The idea of using a candle that grows when it captures wax, enabling it to reach higher points, is really intriguing. The concept of life being restored when wax falls on it is particularly fascinating. I'm curious to know how you achieved the effect of the wax growing and then falling.

Great job!

Developer

thanks for the feedback! on the growing / falling effect - i kept it super simple. on my characterbody2d i had 3 sprites, each with their own collision shapes, for each candle size. depending on the state i simply enabled / disabled them all to match the state. feel free to check out the source code on my github listed on the submission page!

A competently made puzzle platformer with a size change element added in. There's a pixel perfect edge jump you do early on, but it's smooth sailing after.

Well done for a solo dev. Shoot higher, and come back in January!

Interesting mixture between puzzle and platforms! The wax-shring mechanic is really creative!

Good looking platformer game with nice candle wax mechanic. In my opinion, the controls on the main character need to be more precise but the levels are neat and fun.

Really nice! The character is charming and the game is really fun. Nice mechanicals and animations.
