There were a lot of "Oh we can do that!" moments when I got positively surprised by the game, like when I realized I could go overground and the birds started coming out. One thing I'd say is that the time seems to run out before the UI timer reaches zero.
Good job!!
Nice little game! I really like the destructible terrain, and the feeling that this is really a little world. :-) Great work!
Thanks, David! I love your videos and am appreciative of all you do for the Godot community! Thanks for taking the time to play my little game!
Very nice themed game! I would like to destroy the snakes, but the mole is not as strong as it seemed to me :0
You can kill snakes if you visit your ancestor and pay your respects!
Thanks for taking your time to try it out and play!
This ones my favorite so far!
The terrain destruction works brilliantly, and the scope here is huge - going above ground, various ways of interacting with the dead, and snakes everywhere.
Not sure if it was a bug or intended, but I was clicking like a madman trying to run away from snakes. Is there no click and drag, or was firefox letting me down?
Thanks for playing and trying it out! It wasn't Firefox that let you down, it was me! Haha, For some reason I liked the click to move (not hold) and seriously should have added alternative movement styles!
Overscoping is certainly a classic game jam challenge--I had hoped to add "levels" and a tutorial, and just do more balancing (snake speed, mole speed, detection areas, map size, etc). I almost wish I had spent more time on balancing that on the ancestor features, but hearing you liked them makes me feel better!
This was awesome! Great use of the geometry class, I really wanted to try this in my own but didnt get to it. I love the art in this as well. The game was a bit choppy but I assume it was mostly due to the web export. Great job!
Great game, very unique and fit the theme!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking your time to play!
I really liked the digging mechanics (If I may ask how did you implement it ?). The fact that you can choose to go out on the surface to get better food at a higher risk or is a nice touch. Overall it's a solid jam game. My only complain would be the controls, they felt a bit clunky at times. It felt like if I was floating or swimming in water.
Thank you for playing! To make the digging I utilized a solution like the one from the video here:
I had to make modifications to make polygon "islands", but this was a good place to get me started!
As for the controls, I've heard similar comments and wish I made multiple options for control (wasd, click, click and hold) to navigate. Good feedback!
I really wanted to use this in my game as well but didnt get to giving it a try. I really want to try this out!!
Love a good title pun! Definitely hits the theme, and well done on doing all the wildcards. Took me a while to realise I could only get to the surface in certain spots (without the rocks I think), but then it was really fun the interactions with the hawks (audio, swarming, death eventually)..
I would prefer if I could hold the mouse to continue moving towards it, rather than continually clicking.. just personal preference. :)
Thanks for the feedback! I really wish I could have spent more time making tutorials to clarify aspects of the game, but that was one of the things that a lack of time killed! I agree with your feedback on controls, I wish I made more options available!
Another great mole game! :) Great job. Loved your mole art, and the digging mechanic. I liked the option to switch between digging and running, especially to get away from those snakes!
Nice job!
The method of play and art worked together well. I'd prefer to be able to remap to do keyboard controls instead of mouse for this type of movement due to laptop's trackpad. The death ability, and the ability to eat our ancester was a fun extra. It's clear this was all well thought out.
Thanks for the great feedback! I think you are spot-on. I appreciate you taking your time to review it!
