Roger Ebert once said "To my knowledge, no one in or out of the field has ever been able to cite a game worthy of comparison with the great dramatists, poets, filmmakers, novelists and composers." A point that has been debated since the creation of Pong itself. I feel that in Arnold we truly find an answer to this question. An undeniable piece of great art that should be placed alongside the works Rembrandt, Shakespeare, Mozart and their like! Well done. The music was the piece de la resistance!
there is a bug in control, i could turn clockwise while moving forward with holding something but i couldn't turn anti-clockwise, that became frustrating as i had to stop for rotating anti-clockwise :')
man is obviously the best machine
This was an odd premise, to say the least.
The game plays quite nicely with each item having a certain organ to send it to. It took me a bit to understand how to know what foods go where, though at times the indicator didn't flash for me to know. The controls were hard to control, but added some complexity to the slightly fast paced gameplay. The sound effects were also quite nice! They added some nice feedback. Though I had the time dilation effect happen to me, I didn't understand what made it happen. Is it a random chance upon picking up a crate, or do I press a button? I didn't feel like it was clear enough.
Though the idea grossed me out a bit, it was fun to play!
Hi, thank you for your feedback. I can explain the speed effects: Putting coffee to the brain makes the player faster and putting beer to the brain makes the player slower for a while. Sounds reasonable, no? ;)
That does make sense! In that case, you could add some more feedback to help communicate that, otherwise it just looks like another piece of food. Maybe you could give both of them particle effects. The coffee could have fast moving particles and could be vibrating/shaking itself. The beer could have slow moving particles. And with the beer, I feel like there isn't really a reason to use it if it slows you down, especially where you need to go fast to get everything done. What if instead, the beer slowed the game down, but not the player, then both drinks have a reason to be used.
Haha this was some good quality, dumb, fun. Didn't take itself too seriously and had pretty good mechanics. A very well done and fully realised Gamejam submission!
Really unique approach. I especially liked the effect when consuming the beer.
Wonderful sound effects! And the music track fits perfectly. I wasn't sure how to tell which items belonged in which organ. Lungs = balloon was the only one I could work out without using trial and error. Very funny concept, well done!
Thanks for your comment. The organs should have light up while carring a crate, but maybe that was not clear enough - but nice you enjoyed it anyways :)
Ah! I see!
This is game is goofy and fun! Tank controls are hard to handle though.
The sounds were really on point, but the controls were a little rough (would have liked to toggle holding items for example). This was a very creative take on the theme and I think it was well executed. It wasn't super obvious to me at first how I was supposed to handle the different items but once I noticed the flashing signs it made a lot more sense. Sadly I don't think I helped Arnold get his best gains xD
I like how Arnold is the machine although it kinda grossed me out...
Yes, I'm inside Arnold! Once the gameplay is clear it makes fun to just satisfy that little organs. Sweet animations as well!
I liked the idea of the body being the machine. I enjoyed the effect certain foods/drinks had on the gameplay! Good job!
