Oh this is quite interesting. I am not quite familiar with this genre of games. but I had a blast playing this alone, I think with 2 players. it's going to be a ton of fun. Will try it with more players later and get back to you.
This seemed like a really ambitious game for sure! I've always wanted to do a board game in Godot but haven't scoped it out yet. I agree with some other commenters that the font was a bit tough to read at times and I was kind of confused on what I should try to do at first, so maybe some sort of tutorial or maybe an intro board where the characters only have 1 ability to start with to help players understand the rules and basic strategy might be nice.
I'm definitely bookmarking this game in case you update it to add the extra content you said you are planning.
Nice entry and good luck!
Thanks for the bookmark and giving it a try! I agree a tutorial would be great, and the font is a bit irritating (It looked cool on the site) I'll probably have a standard font for most of the UI and the "space age" font for titles and the like. I really like the idea of a tutorial map It could be used to build the narrative a little as well which would be great for where I want to take the game.
This is a really great game. Nice character design, smooth animation, a greatly well-thought concept. I like it a lot. I'll be following the progress of this game.
Awesome idea and mechanics! The description "Turn based coopertive Scifi board game" is megadope.
But the font is a bit hard to read. It would be awesome if you included a HTML5 version.
I had planned on an HTML5 version and even used gles2 hoping to have one for the jam but when I tried to play it via the browser it didn't work. I'll probably try again once I get the first update out.
Yeah I think I over used the font. I liked it in concept but not in practice.
I got to try this out with my sister, and we thought the core mechanics were cool! Rolling dice to expand your base and find your way.
Though at the moment, I can't really say it's fully playable because, well, the attacking system is yet to be added, but the concept was shown, and it has lots of potential
I think a thing that bothered me a bit when playing was the font. The font was too wide at times that I can't clearly read the text unless I read it well. Especially for smaller buttons.
That's pretty much it. It's a pretty nice concept and I can't wait for you to develop this more!
Thanks for pulling your sister into the test, and I agree the lack of the battle system is a let down. If I had another day or two I would have a prototype in the distribution but such is life. I'm glad you mentioned the font its the little things that I have to force myself not to focus on during sprints and jams because it takes so much time to get it just right. I'll be sure to tweak it in the next version after judging is over.
Hmm cooperative board game. I like the idea a lot and I'm impressed that it's both like an overhead board game and immersive as well.
Very impressive how you made a digital board game.
Thanks, I wish I had stayed on target a bit better during the game jam. I have high hopes for the project that kept spilling into the code. I think I could have polished it a bit more if I hadn't allowed my wants over take my needs.
Anything I would critique has already been mentioned by you in the comments and on the game page. I love the idea of making a digital board game and the way the map cards telescope out to make hallways is really cool.
So I don't have any friends on hand to try this one out, but I gave it a go. It looks like it'll be a lot of fun once it's all working, but for right now, I can't figure out how to actually attack or be attacked by the aliens haha. Also, I'm able to continue rerolling the die until I get the outcome I desire. The concept is super cool though!
Ha! I didn't even consider people hitting the roll button over an over. I kind of ran this one till the last moment, and didn't have enough time to do play tests. I'll get that glaring issue dealt with asap along with some better user feed back. :)
I'll need to gather some friends to try this one :)
