How does your submission match the theme?
Energy, boxes and shooting spiders all have multiple purposes. Energy servers as your health but also as ammunition and a low energy levels enables the player to multiply their added score. Boxes can be used to hide behind when it gets rough and they can be moved around to block enemies and press buttons to close or open doors. They can be looted for extra Energy, but then they'll be gone. Shooting spiders adds to your score, but it can also lead to score multipliers when your Energy is low enough.

Nice graphics, challenging game! I included it in my Game Maker Toolkit’s Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Need to tie the spiders/highscore more into the dual purpose stuff. I feel like it would be better if boxes could only be moved by gun shots but otherwise, the system of how it all works fits the theme well. Cool vibe!

Very fun stuff! Thought that the boxes cover the holes too until I saw enemies spawn. I'm not sure how much the boxes helped with defenses.

The health system is interestlly set up! For some reasons I thought the boxes could cover up the spawn points but after 10 minutes of gameplay I finally realized they don't (#`-_ゝ-)

Haha sorry, it wasn't my intention to make it look like that is a thing! Those holes are just a result of too little time to make better graphics. However I find it a fun idea so I may implement it when/if I make a better version. Anyway, thanks for your kind words!

This a really lovely concept. The rush of quickly throwing together defences before the spiders got out of control was ace. Two main points of feedback (Which I totally understand why isn't possible in the time constraints):

1. Energy replenishing should be significantly slower or non existent to force the player to rely on the energy cubes more. Once I'd blocked off all the exits, I didn't have a reason to interact with the blocks again (Other than sometimes using them as cover!)

2. Enemy pathfinding - Obviously a tough nut to crack, but having the enemies actively swarm entrances with no blockades would be nice.

I genuinely think there's potential with this project for more depth - Having things like a day/night cycle which involves using energy on lighting and a shelf life to the energy cubes would be great (Possibly re-charge points?)

Music was catchy as heck, btw.

Thanks for all the feedback, I like it! I do agree with everything that you're saying and I might make a better version of the game, so I'll definitely keep your ideas in mind!
