This is insane.

Developer

Thank you so much! :)

Absolutely amazing game. There were obviously very minor parts that could use some work such as the dialogue (mainly the UI), but this was extremely well executed!

Developer

Thank you very much! Really glad you liked the game!  Thanks a lot for the feedback, we're going to  be working on the game after the jam and we'll updating the UI / dialogue too, so there should be an update on its way soon. :) Thanks for playing!

Incredible work for a 4-day jam. Quite short and simple but the FMV adds so much life to the game, and everything is so polished.

(Except the green arrow which is so comically crude compared to literally everything else in the entire game.)

Developer

Thank you very much! We had a great time making the game. :) Thanks a lot for playing!

Whoa! Very Neverhood and/or Myst vibes with this one! Cool concept! Neat filming! Great job!

Thank you very much! :)

A beautiful game with clean FMV and really evokes the feel of a classic 90's point-and-click adventure, even down to playing some esoteric card game lol, well done!

Developer

Thank you very much for that! Really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for playing!

My goodness! I see an FMV game, I click. The execution here was gorgeous; the quality is way higher than I ever anticipated from a jam game. Fantastic work! One of my top contenders for sure.

Developer

That's so kind, thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it! :)

I was not expecting a FMV game for a jam! Increbile aesthetic and style!
Puzzle wise perhaps I would have liked a bit more puzzles, but we all know how jam deadlines are. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for that! Really glad you have enjoyed the game. We're planning on expanding the game after the jam, so there should be more puzzles on their way soon :) Thanks a lot for the feedback and for playing!

Great! Looking forward to the post-jam release then!

It’s a very pretty game! The scale for a game jam of this size is impressive. I got the one clue from the song puzzle and then beat the card game puzzle. From the one clue I figured out that cryptic icons correspond to icons shown on the dial in the intro. I’m guessing there’s ways to find other clues, but the only other thing I saw was a “darkness” cutscene. I’m also impressed you used a no-code engine, it seems to be a good fit for the kind of content you folks are making.

Developer

Thank you very much! Nice job on figuring out the icons so quick. We're going to be expanding the game after the jam, so there should be some extra puzzles on their way soon. :) Thanks a lot for playing!

This is incredibly impressive!! I've never seen anyone make something like this for a jam game, really well done! Also great marketing for your other project(s), because I definitely want to see what you've been up to now! Keep up the good work!!

Developer

Thank you very much for that! Really glad you have enjoyed the game! :)

Wow! I should've known some team was going to make an FMV game for the jam. That was exceedingly charming! I like the photorealistic yet fantastical art direction. I like the puzzles, especially how they all tied into the theme of scales and the opposite ends of things.

The film is also quite competent. I didn't notice a lot of rough edges and awkward transitions I usually see in indie FMV projects; it was seamless. I particularly liked the scene with the snail in the background; it's an inspired choice.

It's a little buggy in spots; clicking one too many times on an object or dialogue tended to get me soft-locked. Although, for a point-in-click made in 96 hours, it has less bugs than can be expected (except in Grimblestone, of course).

It was a smart decision for the game jam to have the more explicit hint system, but I also appreciate that the final puzzle wasn't too hand-holding; it left a couple of things unsaid.

I was not ready for the ending. How charming!

So, about the "purple dot" glitch. The first time I loaded up the game, a bunch of the dial textures in the first puzzle didn't load in, being a default magenta.

I assumed that this was a Firefox problem and switched to Chrome, but then it didn't happen on Firefox again. So, I started the game on a private tab, and then it happened again. It seems to happen at random on first playthroughs on any browser, when the game has to load and cache the assets.

Here's a general sample of the errors I get in browser:

Note that this happens with random graphic files, not specifically Ivy.png. "Idle" and "Snow" also popped up a lot.

I use GDevelop and I've never had this problem. However, I have worked with how finicky RPG Maker MV's on-play asset loading is, and I suspect that this might be a problem with GDevelop interfacing with Itch.io while loading the rest of the graphics in the background during play. I'm not even sure if the main problem is GDevelop, Itch.io, or just the inherently finicky nature of web connections. I don't know what a good solution would be, since I usually just make my games load all assets before starting, and that might not be practical for a much larger web project.

All-in-all, fantastic! Great work!

Hey, thank you so much for the lovely feedback and also  for all this great information on the bug!  It's so helpful to us, and very much appreciated!

I think you're definitely onto something with loading all assets before starting. I haven't enabled that, so I shall give that a try and see if that helps fix the bug. We're going to have a good look into it and hopefully get the problem solved for an update soon after the jam ends.

Thank you so much for all your help! Me and my brother made this game together, but I also make games under the name Cloud Lantern and you gave me some really helpful feedback on a game I worked on in the past with another bug problem. :) So your help has been very much appreciated!

Really love your games by the way! Amazing work! 👍

Thanks again! :)

I can't believe you made this in 4 days! Extremely impressive, so nice to play, I not only wanna return to this game after the jam but 100% will be following what y'all do outside of this. Wonderful game.

wow the mixed media is amazing, the game has so much charm already and feels like it's based on a book or something. really great stuff.

unfortunately i also had the purple dot bug so i was not able to go that far, but great job on the videography!

Developer

Hey, thank you so much for the feedback, really glad you liked the game! :)

Really sorry you also experienced the purple dot bug, thank you very much for letting us know. We are going to try our best to solve the mystery of the purple dot, and hopefully have it fixed soon after the jam in the next update. :) Thanks again!

This is such a cool and original idea!  I was enjoying it, but couldn't finish unfortunately due to a bug where instead of rendering certain cards, it shows a purple dot (circled in the screenshot below - I censored out the spoilers ;) ).  Great job though!  I'd love to revisit it if you update it later.

Developer(+1)

Hey there! Oh no, I’m really sorry that happened during your play through! Thank you so much for letting us know about it and sharing a screen shot of the problem. We are going to be updating the game shortly after the jam, so hopefully we can fix that bug along with a few others that have occurred. It’s the first time we have seen this problem, so thank you very much for sharing!

Hopefully you can have a bug free play through next time! :) Glad you were enjoying the game up until that point though!
Thank you very much! :)

"Wow!" Was my first reaction when I saw this come up on the feed. I was really surprised to see an FMV game (which I absolutely love as a genre) in the jam. Needless to say I was not disappointed. This game was awesome and every part felt really well crafted! The camerawork and acting was all stellar and it's extremely impressive that all this was made in under 4 days! Excellent work and I can't wait to see what else you make in future!

Developer

Thank you so much for that lovely feedback! Really glad you have enjoyed it! We had a really fun time making it! :)
