Ah, this was really cool. The game has a very cool feel, quite relaxing for something that demands so much attention. Nice balance. It was rounded off nicely by the music and rain SFX/art.

The controls were a bit complicated. Couldn't get very far, and I really tried haha. But, I kept coming back. There's definitely something alluring here. Was about to give up until I realised I could drag myself along the ground.

Could imagine this as a fun festival/party game, but, with some simpler controls, I can see myself relaxing and trying to make my way to the top.

Great work, keen to see if this is taken further :)

thank you so much! i'm glad you felt like coming back to it, that feels great to hear. I definitely agree that there's something here, and I'd be willing to give this another shot (with less slipperiness and better tutorialising) some day! I appreciate the kind words

The controls were a little fiddly to start with, and I didn't get very far ^^; but a cool premise!

Very cool 2D climbing game!

I never played any of the foddian climbing games so I don't really have the mechanics down, only got to 6.67m :S

Art style looks cool. Its very hard to climb and I made it to like 8m high only :(

Very impressive for 48 hours! I will echo that the controls do feel a bit slidey. Feel free to give my submission a look too if you have the time!

The controls are really slidey in an unsatisfying way that feels like I fall for reasons that aren't my fault, but I do really like the rhythm of the click and drag between each arm. But I made it farther in this than I ever did in GIRP, so I call that a win.

yeah i totally agree, even now i've been trying to fix this but to no avail. i'm glad you gave it a shot, maybe one day there'll be a not so slippery version of this!

Dang! this is a good one! I made it to 20m. I like the style and choice!!

I am so terrible at these kinds of games lol. But I am so impressed you were able to knock one out in 48 hours. Well done!

Developer

don't worry, pretty much everyone who has played this (including me) has had a ton of trouble even getting the basic controls down. I spent basically 90% of my 48 hours on the character controller, the rest was super duper simple to put together

Nice! I struggled with the movement, but that could just be me haha, well done! :)

Developer

nope, I'm pretty sure pretty much everyone has struggled with it! Unfortunately, I also struggled with the code for it, so it isn't actually exactly as I would like it, but it's definitely still pretty fun to learn imo

I'm a climber and this game really spoke to me. I'm not one for rage games like getting over it and jump king, but I really wanna finish this one.

Also, the background is SO gorgeous! Please tell me your secrets to making it look like that

Developer(+1)

I'm glad it made you feel that way! You'll be happy to know that the background was incredibly simple, because I just copied it from here: https://godotshaders.com/shader/starfield-2/

Chuck that shader on a ColorRect and play around with the variables to get what you want :)

A great entry in the wonky movement-based rage game genre. Nice interpretation of the theme, great job!
