Highly enjoyable gnome game! I love the dancing
I love the dancing too, I quite enjoy the win screen tally :) Thanks for playing!
Okay, first of all, fantastic title. This game just has an incredible vibe. It’s like Breath of the Wild’s cooking but with N64 graphics but you can actually move the food yourself but it’s a platformer kind of? Seriously, I have no idea what category to put this game in. So I choose to categorize it as “awesome.”
Yeah, the collect-a-thon vibe feels reached which I’m quite happy about :)
It’s a mixture of gameplay styles between gnome and orc, it was also a way for two programmers to work on different things simultaneously.
At first, the meal system involved way more ingredients for an even bigger matrix of possible meals, but we went with mixing two only to simplify the process.
Thanks for playing!
Top notch cuisine:D
Would gnome again
Chef’s kiss :) Thanks for playing!
I enjoyed your take on built to scale! Your concept is super unique being able to switch between two greatly different-sized characters to help each other out. I didn't know where to find any recipes but it seemed like every item that I found had some sort of combination with another, it worked out in the end! Enjoyable play, great job!
Admittedly, the game could have indicated that any combination of ingredients can work; the notes are to help chase for the 100% completion of the cookbook.
The recipe notes are tucked away in some secretive places; check the 2nd stove and you might find yourself reaching new heights 🙂
Thanks for playing!
Hi Cammin! Interesting concept, strange that it doesn't let switch to ogre without bringing ingredients.
Not sure where to find recipes, only found two, so I threw random stuff to complete.
Rats in the top cabinet are scary as hell D:
Toying around the idea of switching between big and small, and making them help each other + better platforming could make a good game out of it :)
Long time no see! Thanks for playing, I’ll be sure to check out your game soon.
There’s only 3 recipe notes per restart, you’re mainly gonna play around and experiment to make something that works; any combination will give you something.
Happy you found the rats, it’s a little easter egg for those who explore far 🙂
Super charming! The visuals are really nice and I was charmed by how silly the game is :D
Thanks! The artist did an amazing job making all the assets, and helping me tune lighting 🙂
I find this game quite enjoyable. The cooking is a little fussy, with the food sometimes refusing to stay in the pan. The combination of platforming and cooking from the recipes is quite fun as a concept. There are a few bugs I came across. If you open the cookbook while cooking, the orc's hand will be stuck to the center of the pan once you close the cookbook. However, I enjoyed playing and trying to figure out which combos were the most valuable.
Yeah, that seemed to be the biggest bug, but thankfully it’s fixable in-game by toggling it off when switching back to gnome. Thanks for playing!
The 3D models are amazing. Both the gnome and the ork are adorable and there is a lot of models for the food. It's very impressive for a game jam.
Thanks! The artist did an amazing job :)
What an aesthetic... I love the sound effects! This gnome has got it on!!!!
Thanks! The artist did an awesome job with all the modelling :)
Haha I had so much fun! Love the dance the gnome does at the end of each round
I enjoy the dancing gnome too, I didn’t think of putting him there originally, but it was so right for the meal tally :)
haha if cooking were only this easy. very silly and very fun. nice job!
If only 😅 Thanks for playing!
this game is so silly and im here for it, love the style and the gameplay is very engaging! :))
Thanks! Tried leaning into some silliness here and there.
There’s an easter egg in a cabinet, I am curious how many players have found it 🙂
This is so delightful and funny. I laughed aloud when the orc first started talking, and again when I threw meat *inside of its package* into the pan to cook it into a burger. I really enjoyed the transition between scales too. One small nit - when playing as the gnome, I found the 3D camera dipped too close to me when I was inside cabinets; of course not necessary for a jam game, but wished it made the objects in view transparent instead. Great game!
Yeah, the camera can be fairly messy at times, but certainly room for improvement. Thanks for playing!
Good game I had fun! I like the contrast between the gnome and the orc, its quite silly seeing the little gnome jump onto the counter as the orc. Music is pretty fun and I liked the gnome's little dance when you completed 6 recipes!
Thanks for playing!
Extremely fun, loved the lil detail of the music changing tracks depending on the character
Thanks for playing! Yeah, I was so excited when the music guy made the tracks, I just knew I HAD to crossfade them :)
really cool take on the theme, and it was fun switching between the 2 characters :)
Thanks! I see you are also made a game with a fellow gnome it it, haha
Great minds think alike lol
gnomes represent!
This was a lot of fun, loved running around as a little gnome!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for playing!
i Really enyojed the game but when i click cookbock i cannot move the ogres hand
Yeah, we’ll see about fixing that in the future. Thanks for playing!
this game is so fun!! I love how many recipes there are, and running around a kitchen as a gnome!!!! feels good to play, and the sound effects are great! 10/10! also i love that the gnome does the gangnam style dance TT-TT
overall great game and execution of a wild idea. only issue is camera tracking sometimes makes it impossible to see whats happening (specifically inside of the smaller areas)
Yeah, the camera inside the cabinet in particular the camera is tricky, probably possible to fix. Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed all the aspects :)
I will agree, Cereal + Potatoes is an unusual fusion, and i should be charged 5$ for serving that to someone
