How does your game fit the theme?
There are two magnets that always have the same movement and if one of them dies the level restarts from the checkpoint, so they are joined toghether, but one of them walks on the ground and the other on the ceiling of two different yet similar levels.

Did your team create the vast majority of the art during the 48 hours?

Those last spikes of the first level will be in my nightmares tonight. I loved the art for this game!

I am not good at those kind of games, but I apprecite a cool interpretation of the theme, as there are many games with two characters that are not asinteresting.

Submitted(+1)

Nice take on the theme, I like how the second player is upside down, I just wish the player controls were a bit tighter (mainly faster deaccleration).
Good job!

Good art work magnet guy is a cute design, very difficult game though, like some of the enemy hitboxes are huge. reminds me of when of those old cutesy nes games that lure you into a false sense of security with the visuals, then kicks your ass. good game i liked it.

This was really challenging but made me want to keep playing until I finally won. Good Job.

Good one! I would have increased the friction a bit for slightly better control, but great mechanics for the game!

Submitted(+1)

We like magnets too ^^.

Developer

Thak you so much for playing the game. It looks like we started from a similar place.

nice game.

Thank you

cool entry! the mechanic is cool, has good music and art too. i think the movement is a little slippery, especially for a game about precision platforming. still a cool game!

Developer

Thank you for trying it out. I already know about the problem with the controls, but thank you anyways for pointing it out.

Submitted(+1)

Solid idea, I think it's impressive that you managed to make the art, music and gameplay all yourself in the timeframe. The platforming was pretty difficult but overall good for the time you had!

Developer(+1)

Thank yo very much.

I like the theme of the game and the gameplay is quite interesting. However, the controls need to be a bit more accurate, especially for a game with multi-tasking involved.

Overall, I had fun playing this game and I beat all the levels. So, nicely done.

Developer(+1)

Thank yoy for playing. A lot of people told me about the controls so I'll make sure to fix them.

A bit 'slide-y' for some of the precise positioning levels demand of you (last part of level 1 took me far longer than I'd care to admit) but was fun nonetheless~
Nice work

Developer

Thak you very much for playing. Other people already told me abou it so I'm coing to change it after the voting of the jam ends.

Great concept! All looks good, I would only add some minor thing - making the music play independently of the scene. I stumbled onto spike at the beginnig of level too many times, so first seconds of music repeat with respawn like a jammed record :D

Developer

Yes, I know. I'm soryy for that but I didn't have time to do it. I'll make sure to change it after the jam.

Nice concept! The art works well for this kind of game (reminds me of MSDOS) and the controls are responsive!

Developer

Thank you very much

Nice game! I like the concept of being indirectly joined together. The levels are a little tough as I'm not sure how to split the two magnets easily. The art and audio are really well fitting too, well done!

Developer

Thank tou for playing the game. I'm sorry for the difficulty in the levels and, I don't know if I made it clear enough, but you are not suposed to split the magnets.

Submitted(+1)

Oh I didn't realise :P

I managed to split the magnets into two separate x axis values about two or three times though, maybe if it wasn't intended you could look into it :)

Developer

I've already been notified about that and I'm trying to fix it and reupload it after the jam, but thank you anyways.

Very nice and responsive game! The controls were smooth and the characters felt very easy to control! After playing through a few levels, I noticed the hitboxes were a little too wide, sometimes I'd jump over an enemy and one of the characters would just die even though they didn't touch an enemy.

Two things I think you could add in to improve the responsiveness of the movement is to add a little squash and stretch when you jump, it's a small detail that can make the game feel very nice to play. Second thing is coyote time, which is pretty much a small window where once you leave a platform, you have a change to jump. Both of these things are just little improvements you can add in post-jam and don't really add much to the gameplay, but improve the game feel!

That's all from me, nice game!

Developer(+1)

Thank yo for playing and the reccomendations. I've already been reccomended to adjust the hitboxes so I'll probably change it and the coyote time is a really interesting idea . Thank you again.

I thought the difficulty was fair & enjoyed playing.  At one point in level 4, the two characters became unsynced due to slight differences in the terrain, and when I synced them back up by running against a wall other weird stuff happened (some of one player's obstacles moved further down the level, and I somehow cleared the level before I actually passed the final obstacle).  Should be easy enough to fix, though.

Developer

Thank you for playing and reporting the bugs. I didn't have much time to play around in the levels so I didn't find any bugs, but now that I know I'll try to fix them.

Very neat game! The concept is very intuitive and the graphics are incredibly pretty. They remind me of some very charming DOS games from before I was born, and the backgrounds especially are very funky and just abstract enough for my imagination to run wild, without making it hard to tell game elements apart.
The challenge is fair. It gets difficult pretty quickly, but I kind of enjoy that in game jam games, at least when they have several levels. That way you can have an easy first level to show the game off and teach the mechanics, but you can also really experiment with all of your mechanics as much as possible, showing the player that "this is how complex you can get with these mechanics", and they can get a taste of what the later levels would be like if it was a full-length game.
As for the controls, they are definitely responsive enough, but I think there are just a couple of small changes that would make them feel a whole lot more fun to use. Specifically, the characters feel just slightly too slippery, and the hitboxes for the obstacles could be made smaller. It seems that they are the same size as the sprite itself, but because it's so common in 2D platformers to make dangerous hitboxes much smaller, it tends to feel like you hit something when you shouldn't have (mainly the spikes).
All in all, the core gameplay concept is a lot of fun and the game looks very competent visually. With just some minor tweaking to the movement and collision I think this game would be incredibly fun to play even for a hundred levels!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you very much for playing my game and all of the recomendations you made. Maybe after the jam ends I'll maje some adjustments to the hitboxes as you recommended and if I'm inspired some other levels.
