there is a big gap between second and third puzzle. i think the game need more balance in the difficulty scaling.

any way good work

A simple concept, but really well explored. Art's straight out of third-generation pokemon and looks great. Could certainly expand into something greater and I hope you keep working at it after this jam is over. Awesome work!

Developer

Haha thanks! Glad others love the GBA Pokémon aesthetic as much as I do. It’s just so simple and yet so effective, way less work than animating complete walk cycles. XD

We definitely want to polish this (and improve level ramp/ add more levels) whenever they allow updates. Would love to hear your feedback whenever we can update!

(By the way that guy Rodolfo Salazar who worked with you on your pixel art based games is amazing! Absolutely love his work!)

Love the aesthetic. Getting some nostalgic Pokemon vibes lol

Puzzles were fun and I feel like the difficulty was introduced at a good pace. I also got pretty stuck on level 4 lol Great game! Can’t wait to see what you make next time

Developer

Yes! I’m so glad someone caught the Pokémon reference! As you can tell, I love their design aesthetic; super simple, super minimal amount of actual animation yet clear and legible shapes and character definition.

Glad you stuck through with the game! We’re going to try to fix the bugs and improve the level ramp (and make more levels period) for the next version (whenever gmtk is over and unlocks uploads) so if you’d be willing to be a guinea pig, we’d love to have you try it out!

Count me in! I’d love to play more!

Great job! the art the music the puzzle mechanics! fantastic! maybe you should push the 3rd level a bit more towards the end that one i was stuck at for a good minute. great game

Developer(+1)

Haha we actually wanted to make the first levels harder! But yeah reordering so each new mechanic is next to each other was something we wanted to do. But you know how it is, so many fires to put out, less than 48 (36 in our case cuz we restarted lol) hours to do it in.

Submitted(+1)

oh yeah I totally understand 48 hours is not enough, we should all be proud as to what we made in such a short amount of time lol

Simple yet well executed concept. It get's quickly hard tho.

Overall well done!

Developer

Thank you so much! (I personally was a huge fan of SMO2D and followed that development). We definitely have a lot to improve on across the board, but feel like this was a fun first game jam experience for our team. :)

Really good art! And I liked the idea and your puzzles were very well designed! I played through to the end and always felt very smart when I figured it out!

My only problems were, the difficulty curve is really weird. The third level took me forever to figure out, and there were like a million conveyer belts I just didn't know what was going on. I think the levels should just be rearranged.

The movement is really slow and janky, I wish it was snappier.

The conveyer belts have two different sprites going on for the two levels they appear and that just seems odd.

The last puzzle was my favorite, I got a great "aha" moment when I figured it out.

Good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! Love to hear people having "aha" moments!

We definitely wanted to spend more time with the mechanics and level design. We over-indicated the first conveyor belt level with the plan to lose them in subsequent levels. We would have ideally built more levels with a more cohesive structure where difficulty ramps per new mechanic. But you know how game jams are, by they time we could even start building levels, it was essentially an hour before the whole thing was due. >_<

Anyway, glad you stuck through to the end!

Great visuals and the music fits with interesting mechanics.

Developer

Yo thanks a ton! Loved the look and sound of your game too!

Nice! It's really cool puzzle, with pretty interesting mechanics! Sounds is funny xD. Music is cool! Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the compliment! That sound was from one of our developers speaking! :)

This is amazing!!! I spent 10 minutes on one of the levels just messing around with the balls and the dudes trying to make it work. I got past it and it felt so good :)! I got stuck soon after but this is a very nice game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the compliment! It's a bit on the hard side, but you can beat it!

Visually this looks and sounds great, gameplay loop is interesting, but the levels have a bit of a weird difficulty curve... tweaking the level design would probably improve this game quite a bit. But this is a really nice start!

Developer

Yes, I agree! We finished the last level maybe 30 minutes before submission and barely had any time to tweak things. Thank you for playing!

the art caught my eye and the music also makes it very atmospheric.

Felt overwhelmed with the traversals at first but then it was actually super easy

boop sounded fun haha

Thank you for the compliment! Our artist @lolsup worked very hard on the pixel art! Glad you were able to get a grip on the game mechanics!

Boop!
