Really unique and interesting idea. A short but challenging game with simple and elegant mechanics

Very nice game! My favourite thing about it is the satisfactory laser-attachment mechanic. I guess this game would really fit mobile. Great job! Congrats on this one!

The only thing is I'd suggest you to make some icon with graphics. I clicked the game almost accidentially, but then I really liked it. Maybe this is too subjective, dunno, just IMHO.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Really fun to play and I like it auto connecting. Felt very responsive (although I wished the gun went a bit faster), and really appreciated the round of applause.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Recording a round of applause by yourself takes a couple minutes haha.

You recorded it yourself? I assumed it was a stock audio; now I enjoy it even more.

Developer

I made ALL of the assets myself! Some of the music I had beforehand, but almost all of the assets were made during the jam!

Ahh! Got to safe my engine! This is quite an innovative game with a level for detail. Great job!

The levels scale well.  The first level gave plenty of time to realize the mechanics and how powerful your tethering lasers are.   I like that 1) your ship can't be harmed, and 2) the ship still has it's weak weapon; this still entices the player to actively shoot, rather than focus purely on positioning.  As a commenter below said, positioning in relation to level ports and enemies is a less explored and interesting spin on tower defense shooters.  Great job!!

Thanks so much for playing my game! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Wonderful game, pretty hardcore for me though.

This was so much fun and that last boss was brutal! There is a lot of variance in the gameplay which was impressive in the time given! this was also an innovative spin on tower defense games as well as the theme. I loved it!! Well done!

Really cool game, i didnt crash on the second level though as preposterous_productions stated, the game is really nice with solid mechanics, good work!

Great job, the graphics are nice, the mechanics are very intuitive, and the little details (screen shaking, sfx, etc) really make it come alive. Impressive for 48 hours! But it crashed my browser in the second level...

Developer

There's a bug in the engine I'm using that makes it run out of memory very quickly almost randomly and literally no one I've spoken to has figured out the cause sadly. I spent probably half of the jam time trying to prevent the crash as much as possible and thought I had it. I'm personally moving away from the engine in the future due to this bug. Anyway, thanks for playing my game!

It got veeeery intense towards the end.
It's a superb entry, there's no denying that. At first I was a bit confused as to why I had to fire in the same direction I was moving, since it made aiming very difficult, but once I understood that the lasers were the actual damage dealers and that I couldn't get hit, it became a lot more enjoyable.
The idea of being linked to the towers to cause the damage was very innovative, I'd say. These top-view shooters tend to be more about aiming in a direction rather than positioning yourself around grounded elements to do the damage. Good variety of enemies, quite a good amount of levels given the development time, and a very impressive, intense final boss. Took me a few tries to overthrow it. Way to go! 🐳

I'm glad you enjoyed playing it through to the end! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this in-depth feedback, you're making me consider developing the idea into a fleshed out game, maybe in UE4 instead of Stencyl/HTML5 though. Originally the intent was that you had to stay within range of the grounded elements or you would run out of ammo/health/whatever really quickly, but a small bug lead to the lasers destroying enemies and from there the idea flourished!

Hah, our team can relate when it comes to turning unexpected behaviour into core gameplay mechanics! But yeah, it was  great experience, so I'd naturally look forward to seeing what you make off this, in whatever engine or shape! 👍

This is the most fun game I've played so far in the jam. Really nice job! The gameplay is simple, but addictive.

Developer

Thanks so much for taking the time to play it!

I must say I am very impressed! Really cool defending game :). That you could kill enemies with the lasers was something I figured out a bit too late tho... but that was my fault.

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I was going to make a short tutorial but ran out of time, sort of hoped that the first level would provide you with enough time to grasp the concept before plunging into more difficult levels.
