I'll start with the positives, because I really do enjoy this style. The art was unique and the music was lovely, I could definitely vibe with it. Unfortunately, the core mechanics just didn't have much going on. After about 10,000 points from spamming punches, I realized I'd never taken damage, so I spent some time actively trying to and failed. The enemy attacks just didn't connect, at least not in my run.

As a genre, I totally dig beat 'em ups, and I could see some of the positive influences going on. Adding stat-modifying boosts was an interesting take on the event theme and I definitely see how that might be built out going forward! On the whole, I think this one had some real potential, hopefully with some more varied gameplay, enemies, and item pick-ups. Good work

The art and music is lovely! I don't know what went wrong, but the enemies weren't dealing any damage, so obviously that's a pretty crucial thing to get right. There wasn't that much varied gameplay as a result of the body parts, but the concept and execution of a future scenario fighting game where people stitch animal body parts to themselves is so weird and fascinating and cool! Would love to see it expanded upon.

Art is great, ambiance is nice, but isn't it very glitchy? Pressing space many times before equiping results in messing everything up, no more killing etc.

Nice work on the art

Like the style and art work. Gameplay could be a bit tighter.

As someone mentioned before I also encountered a bug with enemies not dealing any dmg. Also it would be nice to see fall animation.

Art and music are really nice, and that in general looks like a super base for a good game. I also liked the idea of modification of body parts

Art and music give a  retro touch really fun. Maybe more developpement in the gameplay will be fine (I spam the kick button to end the level) . Good job.

Art is awesome! Gameplay felt like it needed more attention, I could just spam attacks and not get hit. Cool idea though, can see this being really cool with some more work

I am fascinated by the art of the game and all the possible combinations

Developer

Thank you so much! We were really excited about the idea but unfortunately it was beyond a realistic scope. As the background artist, I appreciate your positive comments!

For whatever reason, I can't change the volume slider

Developer

That's strange, was it the main menu one, or the pause menu one? I know the main menu is a bit glitchy right now.

Submitted

It is really inconsistent. On the slider on the starting screen, sliding the leftmost slider occasionally triggers the middle slider instead. I can't recreate it consistently.

I'm not sure if there's an ending as I got quite far before I quit. I really like the art of the game. The strikes feel good too. I think the enemies could be a bit more challenging and I think you may have a bug. My HP was stuck at 40 no matter how many times I let them hit me. It's a really good start to a beat em up and for what is there feels quite polished

Yes it was kinda bugged out - we also encountered the error where enemies wouldn't do damage, as well as others, but we learned some important lessons from the jam. Thanks for your thoughts!

Hello! This game is so beautiful! I love the art and the game feel is pretty good. It feels a bit empty, but it's understandable in a game jam.

Developer

Thanks! I did the background stuff, so I'm glad you enjoyed the art. It does feel a little empty to us as well, but we learned a lot. Thanks for you compliments!
