This was really quite fun! It was interesting to play a clicker game that genuinely required critical thinking and planning. The visuals were nice and simple, and I liked the sound effects - they were oddly satisfying.

Good stuff!

Nice work! I really liked the paper-aesthetic of the game, and the artwork. The visual and sound feedback when you click on the buttons and map are satisfying, makes you feel like playing the game for a long time hehe.

The how-to panel was a big help in figuring out the systems, and I was able to fend off 3 waves of bandits. IMO, losing all your roads each time the bandits attacked felt a bit sad, especially because there’s no way to prevent it. I wasn’t sure what to do or aim for after that - building the road networks was fun, but since they kept disappearing it didn’t feel like progress to me.

I’d love to see any additions to this game in the future - maybe the ability to make longer/more permanent roads. Great work overall :)

What a clever resource-ish game. I loved the way you used the paper background and descriptive instructions - those details are really cool in a game jam submission. Really clever game and solid submission. I hope to see more work on this game in the future!

I love this game, you did an amazing job! At first, I found it very confusing but quite quickly started to understand what we were supposed to do, appreciated the "how to" :) The game is hard at first but once you get an understanding it becomes very fun so well done, you should be proud!

Thanks for the feedback,

Yeah, I realized close to the end that the game mechanics could have used a more in-depth explanation.  Still I am proud, it's my first game and it mostly works.

I'm a really big fan of resource collecting + civilization strategy games! I was really looking forward to playing this game and the paper aesthetic looks very clean! It's super obvious you took a lot of time thinking and flushing out the mechanics of your gameplay - resource gathering, road building, conflicts (attacks from the bandits), etc. and they all add a good unique element to the overall project! The UI was a little unintuitive to me at first; it took a few tries to really understand what I was doing. I think adding some kind of visual cue when you're in "build" mode would be super helpful! (Maybe the whole screen except the build box is grayed out) Would love to see a more expanded version of this! ^^

Thanks for the feedback.

The UI could definitely use work and I probably should have made it clearer in the HowTo section how important Roads are for maximizing production.

The game is really interessting. I like the art-style and basic idea behind it. But it could give more (correct) feedback to the player.

My first problem were the roads. I still not sure how to exit the "build-road-modus". Because on my first try I wasn't able to click any building anymore. Also it would be nice to see which kind of road one has selected.

Then the blacksmith is giving wrong information. I wasn't having any wood but 500+ iron. It still complained about missing iron. I first thought I need stone/iron so I wasn't having any wood. On my next try I read "how to play" again and so I gathered some wood. But then I wasn't sure: how much weapons do I need?

So I survived the first round but not the second. Also I wasn't that happy to see all my roads disappear. I wouldn't take the roads from the player. It feels like a penalty and suddenly all of my progress is gone. I know: clickergames also have their reset-mechanism. But there it is up to the player when he wants to do it. Imho that mechanic is kind of unfair to the player

Please take the above as constructive feedback. Overall I like your game and played several rounds. So keep on working on it :-)

Thanks for the feedback.

Right click closes out of build mode.

The message about needing more iron is a bug I missed.
