fun game, like race the sun (and other such games). Not sure if I like that you can choose your speed, but not a problem as it isn't a mechanics round :)

Glad you enjoyed it! Race the Sun was my primary inspiration, so I'm very happy to see that mentioned!

OK! So I installed Firefox and it was a much smoother experience. I also don't know why on stream I thought we had to go incredibly fast. Probably just being competitive. This morning I played and dialed way back on my speed (I'm not sure how I didn't realize you could decelerate) and it was a blast!

If anything, I would suggest you clamp the top speed to a level that's intense but still playable, instead of letting it get up to something that's going to be uncontrollable. Not that mechanics and gameplay are part of the rating this time. But I had a lot more fun when I mellowed out on the speed, but I also think most people will tend to push it speed wise.

Developer

Glad to hear you were able to get a smoother experience, and that you enjoyed it! I also definitely agree on the point about speed, especially after seeing yours and other feedback. I think I may tinker with either the top speed or the density of obstacles, likely both, to make it a bit more balanced.

The first time I tried this I got a jump scare because I was going too fast and died LMAO

The atmosphere of this game is really neat, the sound and visuals combine to make such a cool experience!

The first impression that this game gives is that I'm like in a dream.

This game is really atmospheric!

The aesthetic is really cool, but audio and video.  Most of the suggestions I would make others have already said, so I won't really rehash them.  A really nice entry all around.  Nice work!

I reached the end in 265 seconds with a final score of 45. At first I went far too fast but I learnt pretty quick. Love how the massive object rises in the distance, not sure how the score is calculated but I think this game has a lot of potential and the environment is pretty cool

it looks cool but a little bit difficult, also im not sure wether its supposed to be in first person pov or third, since at the end you see yourself, cool game overall  tho

Great speedrunning concept where you set your own difficulty by accelerating. The neon surreal landscape is nice though I have to admit quite common in such forward scrolling games

Nice game, funky world is definitely unique. From a gameplay standpoint (which is not what this round is about, but hey feedback is always nice right?) I think it would help to have a physical representation of yourself/your width or some vehicle onscreen, so you can judge where you’re at.

Also could be interesting to have some kind of drift mechanic, maybe when you trigger it slides you suddenly to one side or the other (so you still got to judge it well, but gives you an option other than just constantly slowing down).

Developer(+1)

I always love any kind of feedback, even if not directly related to the theme so I appreciate it! The drift mechanic is a neat idea; if I make it to round 2 I will see if I can come up with some sort of extra movement mechanic to add a bit of depth to the gameplay.

I loved the game, it was fun to play. I couldn't handle the speed because there were points where I couldn't see the difference between close and far objects sometimes. The art style was good and I am intrigued about what could be going on.

Developer

Thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed it! I'm planning to build on this if I make it to round 2, hopefully building on some of the story too if it fits in the theme of the round. Thank you also for the feedback, I might consider adding something like a small outline to the obstacles, just so they're easier to see.

I really enjoyed the art style but though the game was a bit too difficult. I had to slow down a lot because when I was going to fast I couldn't see the obstacles in front of me. but still overall a nice game

Developer

I'll have to think about how to make some of the obstacles easier to see, especially at a distance, because looking back I definitely agree. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

I finished it, but I had to slow down as the smaller monoliths(?) were difficult to see when I was going super fast, took me 135ish seconds :)

Interesting other worldly landscape and I love the huge looming thing in the sky it was a cool sci-fi oppressive feeling kind of level. Nice!

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll have to see if I can make some of the obstacles easier to see because I can definitely see that being a potential annoyance.
