The background art is beautiful, and the main mechanic has room for lots of levels!

If I had to improve it I'd make movement quicker or levels less long because any time spent moving from left to right was just a waste of time!

What games inspired this?

If you like puzzles then you'll like my entry :)

lil glitch in the tutorial part could not always get the talking to spirit to work. Maybe the device not sure. but looks good

Nice game and cool level art! Well done.

Great idea. And good execution.

This game was amazing! The boss battles were the best part and the music made them even better. This game gave me Undertale vibes even though its a platformer. Great job!

Submitted

Really nice concept! The story and the art well made. Good Job!

Wow, beautiful graphics and story. I liked switching between worlds too, music is amazing. One of the best games I played in this jam so far, congrats :)

The story was fantastic and the graphics, especially the parallax, were impressive. Nice game! Our approaches to the theme were similar. :) Nice Work!

Developer

Thank you! Looks like we both went with the soul separating from the body as the theme. Your game was very great and very spooky XD.

Thanksss, hope you like my gam

That is a very cool idea. I'm surprised how many people ended up doing something with body/soul separation.
I don't know if it had a purpose, but when you press S, you drop down into the grass. It would also be nice to have a warning or indicator for the boss's orb attacks. The second boss would often launch the orbs while I was in mid-air, making it unavoidable. I also died a few times from attacks that happened after collecting everything. Overall really good!

Developer(+1)

We use the platformer behavior for the character so when S is pressed it's used to drop from platform, although since we don't have alot of assets we use it for the ground as well but we add invisible floor too so the player doesn't fall off the screen hence that you fall a bit low when pressing S. And sorry for the fire orbs hahaha, it slips my mind to add the warning indicator for that, I'll keep that in mind in the future. Also the player can still died after collecting all of the orb before the boss truly disappear is intentional, so the player must keep their guard up till the end hahaha.
Thank you for playing our game, I'm glad you like it!

Really fun game! The backgrounds are amazing and the parallax feels great to look at! Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, the background is one of my personal favorite of the game too XD

Submitted

A warm and emotional story. Relaxing atmosphere and multi-layered parallax background is great.

Developer

I'm glad you like the game, that background took awhile to make but I'm happy it's worth it XD

I'm glad someone else also put some lore and story into their game. The visuals are really well-made :D

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you so much! We actually remade some of the story over and over again in the process to make it short but still good, and I'm really happy that you liked it :D

Very nice color palette that fits the graphical style well! The parallax backgrounds really helped add more depth.  The music and moody atmosphere also worked great for the theme but the large amount of text at the beginning might be too slow for some people to sit through. Great game jam you put together though!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you like the game, and thank you for your suggestion, we really appreciate it. Maybe we'll try make a speedup text when dealing with long dialogue in the future.

I couldn't get very far because I couldn't work out how to talk to the person at the start, tried every button, but the graphics and audio look cool, pretty use of the parallaxes

Developer(+1)

I'm sorry, forgot to mention that you have to click the npc sprites, and also depends on the realm you're in :< I'll update the description

I got a lot further this time haha ! Very good game, and definitely a lot of potential. Not the most unique idea for the theme, but definitely one of the nicer games using this "platformer with 2 versions of a character" take on it! I feel like the platformer aspect was very well done, nice level design with the fire enemies, and boy what a plot twist! Something you'd expect from a game, but not a game jam game! Intriguing story!
