Perfect execution of an action platformer. At this point, more content and something to help it stand out from other professionally made indie platform games and you would have a full game here. The platforming was very smooth but I did find the combat kind of laborious. Maybe let enemies be more lethal but possible to avoid, while allowing more combo attack time to kill them quickly; at least for petty foes that populate the level

Developer

Thanks, the combat was something I didn't quite get round to finishing as I only had one enemy for now, planning on adding hella more enemies and fighting combos etc once the voting is done :) Thanks for playing

From what I've seen, I'm about to give you the most *objective* review. No one else seemed to notice everything but the music and programming was from asset packs, which really sucks because it'll probably skew the ratings.
But anyhow, you definitely used these assets very well and know how to craft a very nice-looking game world. I don't know if the camera switching to the speaker during dialog was your doing, but if it was you have such an awesome mastery of professional presentation.
I fear, though, that just like me you ran out of time to tune the platforming to where you'd like it. All of the platforming seems to be the built-in behaviors and it felt really slippery and not very responsive or satisfying. And seeing how well you put everything else together, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that this is just because you ran out of time. And as for the combat, it chains well, but just doesn't have that juice to feel satisfying to me.
I would bet if you managed to get yourself a team of talented people you'd be able to make the next indie hit, keep it up!

Developer

Thanks for the honest review :) that's what all this is about after all. I appreciate all your points, and you're right, I didn't get any time to tune due to the time limit, I'll be honest I only joined the Jam on the 5th day so I had to power through everything hence why I used the platformer behaviours, but I did have to modify them and I actually coded my animations and combo timers etc into these behaviours. The only thing I would fight back on is that the music isn't from asset packs, the sfx are i.e the rain sounds, the weapon swishes and female voice, but the music score was made by me in FL so I would be genuinely interested if you could let me know where you might have heard these sounds before

I think you misread that sentence, though I can see how since my sentences kinda run on sometimes lol. I didn't say the music wasn't from you

Developer

Oh yeah, okay, rereading it, I can see what you mean now! I think the sentence is so long, I was adding my own pauses which changed the meaning lol. Thanks, I get what you mean now, my bad :)

Really nice art style, pixel art art is perfect! Well Done! can you please play my game to get feedback!

Developer

Thanks for playing, of course it's common courtesy :)

Awesome pixel art! This feels it could be a commercial game and one that I would buy :)

Developer

Thanks, it is not my just artwork, it's pack of an asset pack I owned but I do plan on making it into a commercial game once the Jam is over :)

I think this has a lot of potential to be something more, there a lot of experiments in Jams and this was one that really make a spot in a "commercial game" category. Congrats, a lot of work in just 9 days, just dream how would be a game with a year or so...

A very complete and well-made performance, the careful design of the music and sound effects is admirable.

Awww man! I would have loved to keep playing!
The graphics are gorgious and the sound design aswell as the music and gameplay work perfectly together. Even in only 5 days you crafted a (to me) almost finished game. That could very well be a commercial game.
Great job ^^

Seems like a complete game already! Awesome polish and artwork! Didn't really get to a point where the theme comes into play.

Developer

Hi yes, unfortunately it was planned but alas I did not get as far as I was hoping to, I think I spent a lot of time perfecting juice and things when I realised it would take too long, thanks for playing :)

I'm surprised, it has really cool artworks!
And this game has a lot of flexibility.
Nice!

One of the most polished complete games I have played.  Art looks good sound looks good.  Personal I dont like to read so audio or some audio would be my only suggestion.  But what do I know lol  Nice work

Developer

Thanks for the comment, yeah I hope to get the dialogue voice acted if I can afford it one day lol

What an absolutely gorgeous looking, feeling and sounding game <3
I absolutely love how you did the parallax scrolling and storytelling and the music is so awesome <3
