Gamemaker games are infamous for tripping antivirus software. Granted: better safe than sorry!

It's decent. The art is cute! Although, I wasn't expecting the out-of-health animation to be so distressing.

The use of pre-made music is regrettable, but understandable. Everyone misunderstands rules sometimes! The thing that stood out to me more was the lack of other sound effects.

Who is that strange man?

Good work! Congratulations on the submission!

Thanks for the kind words. The strange man was an Easter egg for a friend.

windows detects a trojan virus. Trojan:Win32/Sabsik.FL.A!ml, sounds like a serious menace

The Game is nice and work pretty well when you switch to qwerty keyboard. I enjoyed the music and the art . I like that the animation when you loose is the squid crying, it is heart breaking

Developer

Thank you for the information. When i check the gamemaker file (game Maker Studio 1.4) of Squid in Space, everthing is ok. But when i create an executable an check it, windows detects the virus. Then i load the projekt in Game Maker Studio 2 and it is ok. Very strange.

Game appears to be a virus… Please upload a HTML5 version of your game(s) whenever possible to avoid this happening again.

You should check your computer for trojan horses.
Maybe something contaminated your executables.. :(

one 5 MB executable file with an icon? Interesting, already seems quite different then most submissions.
What engine and tools did you use to create this?

Developer

Thank you for playing. The game was created with game maker studio 1.4. . The music is from opengameart.org.

hold on, third-party assets aren’t allowed, are they?

Developer

oh you're right. I didn't notice the music thing. I'll update the page and take the music down. Thanks for the tip.

Cute game!

I like that it turns into a space shooter.

HÄ!

Developer

Thank you for playing. Originally I wanted to create a top-down level. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time.

I got a warning about a virus and my download was cancelled.

Sounds about right, the majority of antivirus software just interpret any "unknown" exe file as a virus, I'm gonna test it and see for myself. -->  Edit: Its not a  virus

Submitted (1 edit)

I've downloaded multiple exe files from this and other gamejams without ever getting a warning about a virus.  This is the first one I've seen cancel my download and just say NO.  Also, this is a RAR file, not an EXE.  I had to extract SEM.rar earlier today and it downloaded without any issues.

it seems like a common thing for GameMaker games to trigger antivirus software. i was told mine did too.

Weird, i sent my godot game that i made for this jam to my friends and one of them had the same issue, but after turning windows defender off managed to run my game. My game is an .exe but i sent as a RAR file too.

Developer

Oh okay, unfortunately I don't know where the problem comes from :(
