Very unique idea. I wish it was not just plain, I wish it were longer. I reminds me of eco. I wish there were more to watch. I would love to see this game expanded. More poop.

Developer

Haha! More poop! Thanks for the feedback. I'm starting to think I do need to expand on the game rather than just get on with the next project.

i like the idea. could become really zen-relaxing game, by just observing what happens, and how things interract with each other. nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and leaving some feedback. My game doc included the pillars "Relaxing, Curiosity." Mission accomplished! I appreciate it!

pretty unique game. after playing this game, I know that I'm not good in ecosystem xD. love the procedural in this game!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!

Thanks all! Not Conway's game in the mechanics - different matrix, but similar concept. The animals are grazing the plants, the amount of sustenance depends on the phase of the plant, the animals are helping to fertilize the soil and also leaving some waste behind. The waste impacts the fertility of the animals. The plants need the fertilized soil and also break down the waste.

If I had more time, I would work out the weight of those interactions -- it's why the carnivores so rarely stick around.

Interesting game, my deer creatures looked like the ruined my ecosystem.  Took a moment to realize I needed to hit the unpause button to activate in browser mode, was wondering why nothing was happening after placing my parts. But then it was magic after that!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! It all atrophies in the end. The deer are possibly munching on the plants too much at times. I appreciate the time and the compliment!

Not the sort of thing that holds my interest sorry, but I appreciate how much work you put into it.

Developer

Thanks for the recognition! Thanks for giving it a go, MFO!

I used to love playing around with Conway's game of life and this is very similar. The 3D perspective is a great addition too. I'm curious if it's possible to lock the game and accumulate infinite points xD but I think the plants just stop multiplying after a while to make the game end eventually.

Thanks! My memories of Conway's game was that it was an annoying app on Windows 3.1. Annoying, because I could not understand what I was doing, making. (Now that I'm typing this, I'm wondering how much of this is me trying to complete that gestalt...) I didn't depend solely on positioning for the spawning of new life. I'm pretty sure I weighted it in a way that nothing will last forever. If someone makes that happen for v0.0, I'd love to see a screen grab!

That was great, very original! I enjoyed swapping between 2D and 3D, and I particularly liked how the music responds to the evolution, very cool!

It could be nice if the 3D scene had more transitions between states, just like the plants grow, to give it a more organic feel. I.e. to see the animals move and/or die, with an animation.

Developer

Totally agree on what to add in the future. It's on the wish list for future versions!

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed!

what a unique game! I really like the procedural interaction between the different parties and to sit back and watch my descisions play out.

but I wish I could comprehend how they effect each other better. maybe it is because of the steps, or maybe I am just dumb ;-) but it was kinda hard to get a real feeling for what's was going on...

maybe you could interpolate the positions of the animals between steps?

either way, good work!

Developer

Thanks! Such a compliment! I'll leave a comment about what goes on behind the scenes... If only I had more time... I've got my wish list for later versions if I improve the game:

Better weight the stats. Let the player see the stats of each animal, plant, or terrain. Animate the movement of the animals. And more boards. Great things to consider!
