Cool game! The car feels really good to control and I dig the aesthetic. Agree with other comments about a rotating mini-map, it was hard to tell which direction I was facing in relation to the map. Very cool looking page as well!
Thank you! I was channeling some kind of aesthetic idea a great deal in this project. I'm glad people are responding well to it.
Fun game, cool aesthetic. I would have liked the minimap to rotate with the car. I did get the car stuck inside of a building at one point and couldn't get out. When restarting, I would have liked to be able to skip the intro. A lot of fun just driving around that map.
Not adding a Skip Intro button was an unfortunate oversight of mine. And unskippable cutscenes is a personal pet peeve of mine! I've become the very thing I swore to destroy! :) I'll add it in a patch after the rating period, plus better navigation aids.
I really like this one! I think I managed to deliver 7 or 8 pizzas before I failed one. Are you planning to develop this game any further? The car controls worked great for this, felt real arcade-like.
Thanks Beachblock. I will do a quality of life patch after rating has concluded, add a rotating minimap icon, skip the introtext, add some kind of Just Cruise option, etc. But I haven't decided if I will really continue development. Guess I'll see how it ends up rating in the Jam first, if people really want this game as a full thing. I do always want to continue developing each of my projects... but also I learn so much with each project that starting fresh often seems to be the best method for continuing that leapfrog learning process.
I loved the aesthetics of the game a lot! Besides the style, it reminds me of Crazy Taxi for some reason. Speaking of which, I think an arrow on top of the car showing the path would be great. Better camera work can also greatly improve the feel of driving/drifting. The camera felt a bit far when accelerating, but maybe you wanted to show more of the environment. Overall, a really fun game!
Hi Squid, thanks. Yeah, I did want to show more of the environment, especially because I figured players would be scanning for those blue boxes. I think your tip for an arrow on top of the car is probably the best compromise for aiding the player to navigate in the main screen screen. I'll think about it further. Thanks for your comment!
fun game, only thing i wish to be better is that the minimap could be larger
Minimap -> Megamap. Got it. I agree, actually, it needs more work. Thanks!
sweet looking and sounding game! this was really fun and nice presentation
Very kind Alex, muchas gracias
Great game! Enjoyed just driving around. looking at the surroundings and listening to the music!
Thank you!
Weirdly fun. I spent a lot of time on it. Music is amazing and the artwork is amazing!
Thanks Ruok!
The music and the environment are almost dream like! almost a really chilled out "crazy taxi"
Dream like! Wow, yeah, that puts into words something I was trending towards but hadn't put a name to yet. Thank you!
Awesome Car Controls and music, even fun to just drive around
Thanks. I was trying, in part, to capture the joy of first getting one's driver's license and choosing your own tunes to blast. Glad it came through
Great game. Love the cyberpunk vibes ^^
Thanks Thracco. I was vibin' big time making this little game
Wonderful little gem! The cyberpunk theme was spot on and the controls on the car felt great. Great music/sound effects tying into the theme made this a very well polished game.
Great submission!
Thanks Chris!
This game is a vibe!! A cyberpunk pizza driver? What's cooler than that? The controls are also very sharp and the music is very well-picked and varied for the theme. I can see this turning into a fully-fledged game. Congratulations on the submission!
All about the vibes, man. Fully-fledged game is high praise and you definitely got me fantasizing about the idea. Thank you.
Love the sci-fi look! The buildings from a distance, combined with the post-processing, and floating cars in the background all fit super well together! After delivering a couple of pizzas I just drove around what I think was the whole map just cause I wanted to explore it! haha. Very cool.
Thank you Stephen! I decided on the look for this game very early on in the process, defined a color palette, made my lighting choices, and enlisted the URP post-processing stack to do some heavy lifting for establishing the atmosphere. Really glad I started there, it paid off in a big way.
I was inspired in part by early GTA games like Vice City and even GTA2 (back when it was top-down). I always loved just driving around in those games, often ignoring the missions for great lengths of time to just check things out. I'm thinking if I develop further I might want to add an option where you can go "off the clock" and just cruise
Love the cyberpunk look and the music fit perfectly. Great looking city for such a short time!!
Thank you!
Good job creating this beautiful city and overall all assets. :) Nice game
Thanks Yani!
Really really cool camera movement and graphics! The controls over the car were a bit slippery, especially when drifting at every turn. The 30 second time limit was killing, I barely managed to deliver once successfully and the map didn't help me that much using dots. Some directions on screen to where to go would be nice. And since we have money, a shop to upgrade the car would be interesting. Other than that, it's a cool game, good job! (Ghio)
My first time messing around with Cinemachine for the camera effects, and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with it. I also experimented with a more realistic car controller and... meh. I liked this sloppy burnout mess machine better somehow, at least for this game.
30 seconds is undeniably tough! However, assuming the countdown is starting from the pizza gate, I assure you that each delivery is indeed possible. Some are very tough (I think I speak for everyone when I say "F the Financial District"), but others should be absolutely easily doable, with time to spare, and extra cash to earn.
Earn enough money, and upgrades do unlock over time, improving things like speed and handling. I did consider doing an upgrade shop, you may have noticed the Mechanic's shop still in the game, a holdover from that idea which got repurposed.
Omg! How did you manage to make such a huge location and such cool mechanics in 10 days? Really cool dude, thanks for this game.
I wanted even more! I envisioned a totally crowded-in space full of tight corners and ramps to hit, but it ended up more wide open generally with localized neighborhoods, and I guess I like that to a certain extent too. I always love hitting that straightaway to approach the city, for example. Thanks man!
Absolutely stunning graphics and scene design. I love the attention to details on the skid marks, the lighting, and the see-through tunnel. Sadly I was unable to delivery pizza because I don't know where to go, but it was fun cruising through and explore the city:)
Hey Pipcy, thanks for nice comments on the aesthetic. Delivering pizzas isn't that hard, but maybe requires a bit of practice. Your minimap has a little blue icon that shows you where to go. There's also a pillar of blue light you can spot rising up from each spot, and the final destination is a glowing blue box. Some destinations are quite hard to reach punctually, but others should be a piece of
pizzacake. With more deliveries, you'll start to recognize familiar locations, plan better routes, and the job will get easier.Give it another look and I'm sure you will succeed!
I love the aesthetic! This reminds me of the package delivery driver lesson from the unity course - but taken to the extreme!
I haven't taken that course! But I'll have to take a look sometime.
