Gorgeous game, love the transitions. Unfortunately starting a new game after dying doesnt work, and the baddies get stuck on the rocks.

Id also say the controls are sort of awkward, and should probably be on screen in some way(as maybe icons over the status displays. press 'spc' for this). Having to memorize some of the stuff to play a quick game seems odd and i kept forgetting the item switch ones.

I like the pixel art and the beginning cutscene was a really nice touch.  The gameplay could be more fleshed out and it seems that after a certain point enemies cant really find their way to your location.

thanks for the feedback everyone! We are back working on the game now to make sure it gets the polished finish it deserves! Can not wait to show you all.

Cool Game Bro. Game seems to break once you do new game. Was rather easy once you have a path open as they don't follow you.

Your game is great! The visual and audio constituent is incredible!

Art looks great! I think this game has great potential if you were able to use the resources you got and could upgrade etc.

Also a few bugs I found:

- Once you die, you cannot replay the game unless you F5,

- Once you get past the first rock, the enemies no longer seem to follow you.

Great work Cable! I can totally relate on having to scrap a bunch of what was planned. I also had to settle with a game that wasn't really what I was first envisioning! But it was my first game jam too, and the experience really is worth it all! Fantastic art and sounds! Loved it!

I loved the art and the animation in the start screen, nice job there.

I really like the idea of mining and protecting yourself at the same time. Too bad you had to strip a lot of the game play. I really wanted to see the boss fight. The art looks good.

Hi all!

Thanks for checking out our Gamedev.js Game Jam 2022 entry, RunAway.

Sadly much of what was planned had to be stripped from the final submission.

The biggest being the entire middle part of our game which consisted a procedural level builder that made use of Protocol Labs random value generator, drand to create the map.
In the end this level had massive performance issues once we stared adding everything in and had to be scrapped along with the final boss level.

Once we have had time to relax and rethink our approach we look forward to revisiting RunAWay to make sure it ends up becoming the game it was always meant to be.

This was a first Game Jam for most of our team and an amazing learning experience for us all.

Anyway enjoy our little creation and bring on the next one!

I saw RunAWay-test in this jam and it looks the same. How so? :)

Submitted(+2)

The test is submitted by me to see if the game is up and running in itch.  Please refer to this as the legit game.

Its cos I was a total noob and had no idea what I was doing regarding the submission leading up to the final moments of the deadline lol
