Really good job on the Gameplay and the AI ! Easy to handle, but hard to master :D
I found this game super fun. I didn't want to stop playing it! Also, the AI was done really well. I feel like placing the bomb could have been a little easier (like pressing the spacebar once instead of holding it down), but other than that, this game was really fun! Nice work!
Finally got this game playing after several refresh. Looking at JS console sometimes it says along play() interrupted by pause()
or scene undefined
.
It’s really clever game! My fav multiplayer game so far. I would say it’s more like battleships + go/reversi rather than bomberman.
Rather than holding [space] key, I think you should make it release/press [space] key to place the bomb. Keeping the cool down for placing the bomb is still fine. Actually, I prefer it that way to give me time to think.
Having isometric graphic for this kind of game is quite tricky for some player. Maybe adding settings to highlight the targeted tile would help.
me 4 times playing -> 1 win (bombed), 2 lose (stalemate), 1 lose (bombed) 😂
Oh to bad, I never encountered such errors but I am glad you got it to work eventually! That's actually a good idea! I get the feeling many people found it kind of unintuitive that you have to hold space. having it that you just press it, using a cooldown timer is a good solution for that.
It definitely takes some getting used to moving in this isometric perspective. I guess I didn't even think about it anymore after working on it all the time but good that you point that out.
Thanks for the kind and constructive feedback! it is much appreciated 🤗
One of my favorite concepts of the whole jam!
Very innovative.
I guess you should go on with it. ; )
Played this on stream. Check out the vod here for my thoughts. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1002765258?t=01h27m12s
Wow it is really nice to see you break out my game like that! Probably the best feedback so far, thanks! It is a really perfect combo that you play your game on twitch while you showcase other entries. But indeed, I struggled a lot with how to win. I couldn't think of a better way to force a game to end besides forcing a stalemate. Especially given the time period, and not making it too complicated that everyone needs 15 minutes to understand the rules. But it indeed can give rise to cheesy tactics. I recon it would be better against a human player that can understand what you are doing and anticipate, because this AI is really basic.
I also noticed that the pace of the game was designed to be much slower. everything seemed sped up on your browser. I guess this is also the reason why the sound was so awful. I didn't have any such issues. I scripted everything with JavaScript and Three.js, no game engine here 😄Thanks a bunch! it is much appreciated.
Fun game with an interesting concept. :)
Beat the AI a few times by bombing a line straight down the middle - Would like to give it a go with 2 players at some point.
Nice work
I really like the concept. A little nitpicky, but the pace is a tad too slow, and the game would benefit from making moving from tile to tile and crafting bombs a little faster. Also, it seems like you could get yourself into a situation where neither bomber could reach one another which would cause a stalemate.
Thanks for the feedback! it is surely appreciated. That was indeed my first concern when designing the game... By definition there are many ways it is no longer possible to hit the opponent. But the way I tried to solve that, is that in such cases, the player that is on the largest island wins. This way you are still encouraged to not be cut off.
