Finally got around to writing up a retro: https://iamdanielmarino.com/posts/github-game-off-game-jam-2021-retrospective/

Sorry, but the game manual was TL;DR.

Cool concept. It was fun at first, but it does become a little repetitive. I think introducing some variation into the game somehow would make it even more fun. Also it would be cool to hear some sound. Otherwise, nice job!

Such a cool and unique concept! I've worked with programmed audio in the past and it's really hard to do well, so nice job on the implementation. Really nice job!

It was harder than I thought it would be! Fun idea, great graphics and audio. Game feels really polished right down to the ever-so-slightly animated background!Great job!

Fun game to play even though I wasn't very good at it! The concept is cool/interesting, and I like that it forces you to map our your route before it zooms in on you, making it a game of memory. Only real critique I have is it would be helpful if you included game controls somewhere.

The concept is hilarious! It was fun/infuriating to play! I admit I didn't get too far tho :P. Not sure what the point of the HP was for since mine was below -200 by the time I gave up.

Some minor critique: I think it would be beneficial to have some visual indicator like a power meter or something showing how much velocity you'll have from holding spacebar. Also I don't recall explanation of what the controls are to play. I think just arrows/space, but maybe I missed something?

Great job!

The animation/rig work is great. I never was really able to determine where I was suppose to go, and I don't think I beat the first level :P. Wish there was sound too.

Good job! I can tell a lot of effort went into this. My biggest gripe is that when I crash into a wall it takes a considerable amount of time for reverse to kick in.

This game made me chuckle! The premise, the cover art, the music was all great! Game was periodically glitching, but I think this is intentional?!?!

Fun game! Graphics and audio are nice. I couldn't figure out how to get to the tops of the trees on the forest level, but that's not your fault :P.

I kind of like how you don't take damage when touching bugs, but at the same time there's no incentive to be careful in platforming. Tricky tradeoff, but in the end I think you made the right move.

Biggest complaint is the collection of bugs is a tad wonky sometimes.

Overall, nice work!

A storyline, fun mechanics, great graphics, animation, and sound. Excellent job! Little things: you can stand on top of the bad guys, and I'm not a fan of "pick a door" gameplay.

What a simple concept with easy to use mechanics. I really enjoyed this platformer. The graphics, sound, and overall atmosphere were all well-executed. Tutorial was also nicely integrated.

If I'm being nitpicky... and I am... I wish that there was a little more indication of death other than just showing "retry" on the screen. Animation or sound or both or something!

I wish it was longer! It was fun to play, and had a comedic charm to it.

Fun game. Can't go wrong with solitare. Love that you took the time to implement color-blind friendly mode. Wish it had some audio.

Fun to play. Nice take on platforming. I saved myself from dying a few times by wall jumping (clipping into the wall and then jumping) which I doubt is intentional, but sometimes these unexpected bugs make the game more fun. I could picture someone speedrunning this game.

I didn't really figure out _how_ I was suppose to beat the level until like level 2 or 3. I think the puzzle part of the game itself is a great in itself,  and that the platforming aspect kind of detracts from it a little bit. Maybe if the controls were a little less slippery, and if it was faster to push a block the platforming wouldn't had been such an issue for me.

Back to the puzzle: its a great concept and I could easily see this part being flushed out into a fully fledged mobile game. Nice work!

I like a game with a quirky sense of humor. I don't even mind the graphics being super lofi, but I just couldn't figure out the game. I wasn't able to make it past the second screen.

Quality sound and art. Nice work!

Art and music are beautiful. I really love the atmosphere. Game feels really smooth and polished. I did find it a little difficult to collect the fireflies, but that might just be me. Nice job!

This is one of my favorite games from the jam so far. I appreciate that you took the time to make it compatible with mobile/touch devices (I played it on my phone just because I could). I really like the Atari art/sound aesthetics. The collection and distance features makes the game that much more addicting. You've done a great job, and hope you keep creating games because you have a great sense at how to make a game enjoyable to play.

My only wish is that there was a little more variety in obstacles as you progress (maybe I didn't get far enough), but I get it's a game jam and sometimes you need to just ship an MVP.

Excellent work!

> What kind of tuning would you like to see?

It felt like I was at the mercy of randomness in shapes appearing moreso than skill in being able to play the game. For instance, in several of the times I played through a third shape didn't appear until the rows were almost at the lazer, so I was unable to match until then. It feels crummy when you lose to something you don't have much control over.

These are the types of things you find through endless playtesting and having others playtest your game.

The voice over made me laugh, and I also really like the main song.  It didn't feel like there was any scaling in difficulty (maybe I didn't play long enough), and I think the game would benefit from this or some other mechanic of sorts that made you feel accomplished about progressing (power ups or whatever).

Maybe I'm dumb, but I couldn't get past the first guard. Maybe I'm missing some kind of mechanic? Feels very Atari-like, and I dig it. I think your interpretation of the theme is clever.

Wow you folks built this game really fast (submitted 29 days before deadline), and it's fairly polished. Nice work! It is very challenging - maybe a little too challenging from the start. Maybe ramp up difficulty a little more slowly, so that it's easier to get drawn into the game.

Any way you can package this up, so it's a little easier to play? I don't really want to have to get Python going on my machine.

Oh my, this is more or less my day job :P so I was hoping to have a bit of an advantage going into this game. That said it was still stressful! I'm sharing your game with my colleagues to see what they think lol!

Really clever interpretation of the theme. Graphics are pretty minimal/simple but I don't mind that. Wish there was some more sound. Tutorial was great, and I'm sure people will find that quite useful. Nice work!

def takes some getting used to the controls. My first full play through took about an hour. Now it takes me about 10 minutes. Thanks for playing!

I’m bummed you weren’t able to get it working:( I’m glad you at least  got to enjoy some of the music.

yup the bug intentionally has jitter because it’s a bug. And I agree about holding the phone more vertical. Thanks for playing!

Fun little platformer. I dig the pixel graphics and the sound fx. I like how the gun shoots letters. Nice work!

Very nice job for your first game! You should be proud! I like your interpretation of using Probiotics as bugs—that's pretty clever.

Game could def use sound sound, and polish, but overall nice job!

Considering you built this in two days, it's pretty amazing. It has its own aesthetic compared to other games with similar mechanics (such as minecraft) which I appreciate. The sound design is also pretty great. Not really much of a game, but it seems like the base of something that could be high-quality.

Graphics and sound are well done. I had fun playing, but I think could be next level with some fine tuning. In fact I could see myself playing this on my phone if it were tuned.

Not sure how to play in buggy mode.

Sorry for the trouble! The game should prompt you when you first load it to have access to your phones sensors so that it can use its accelerometer. Without access you cannot play the game. You might have to clear your browser cache or play in a private session if you'd like to try again.

I couldn't get this to play on my Mac even after following https://disable-gatekeeper.github.io/
