I really like the game, using the bug to change mechanics is very interesting, i started to collect red bug to have a very high jump and  scoerd 368.

Great entry!

I really like the mechanics of having to learn and remember which bug does what :)

One thing I'd suggest is making the bug icons more different between each other for accessibility, like "BUG-A", "BUG-B", etc (colorblind people could have trouble telling the bugs apart).

Thanks, that's a good point: some different sprites for the bugs would really help make them more distinct.

This is one of my favorite games from the jam so far. I appreciate that you took the time to make it compatible with mobile/touch devices (I played it on my phone just because I could). I really like the Atari art/sound aesthetics. The collection and distance features makes the game that much more addicting. You've done a great job, and hope you keep creating games because you have a great sense at how to make a game enjoyable to play.

My only wish is that there was a little more variety in obstacles as you progress (maybe I didn't get far enough), but I get it's a game jam and sometimes you need to just ship an MVP.

Excellent work!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the suggestion: I'll definitely try to add some more varied stuff in the late game next time around.

I appreciate the unlocking mechanic with the bugs you have to collect, also the procedurally generated level.

GG :)

Love the stripped-down art style and the random nature of the power-ups

nice challenging game it was a nice usage of the bug theme

I might be wrong but I think it would benefit from a couple of coyote frames. Other than that, it's pretty good. I suck at it, but that's on me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the tip on coyote frames, I'll look into adding that in future submissions. I thought your game was pretty good too, I liked the art a lot 😁

I had fun with it! I got an insane jump-height at the end, while also going backwards. I tried to jump over two platforms and ended up hitting one of the big bugs in the head, wops! But hey, at least I got to 90! Nice submission!

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it

Jumping is kind of glitchy. The big boy powerup almost always kills me instantly and the one that jumps automatically is kind of pointless and annoying. The gameplay gets boring pretty quickly but it's fun trying to stack as many collectable's effects as possible for a few minutes. I'm not sure why but I find all the audio incredibly annoying. All in all it was very good with the time we were given but I think a couple things went overlooked.

Developer

Thanks for letting you know what you thought of the game, I agree there are some problems with the mechanics. Next time around I'm going to try and make a better attempt at sound design.
