Great idea! I liked the theme. It felt a little hard, I could pass the second level :( But I really liked the idea! Congrats
I really like this idea a lot! I was able to catch all the fish in the world haha. The intro was really awesome and I thought the art was well done. I was really confused by the one-way walls at first. It wasn't clear to me how to tell which way they went at first. I also think collision with hazards could be a little more forgiving. The solution to level 6 was really surprising... I'm not really sure how I feel about it. It's awesome you can do that with the mechanic, but it was never formally introduced so it's not obvious. I kind of stumbled into figuring it out just through experimentation. I'd love to see this idea iterated on, it's really cool. Great job!
The art and aesthetic of this game are great, but I experienced many bugs when trying to play this on both the web and downloaded version. I got stuck in the intro cutscene, my controls stopped working in the web version at one point, and I was able to clip through some of the walls. Great idea, just needs polish.
Movement and stretching feels a bit difficult to play with. The game could use a little bit more polish in that sense.
But visually, the game is stunning. I love all the visuals, the color choices, and most especially the cute intro at the beginning. Great work on that!
This game is very visually stunning and I liked the story :)
Visually, it's really nice and the stretch mechanic is a nice way of implementing the "SCALE" Theme, but it's quite infuriating.
The collisions are not properly aligned so end up colliding against things that you are not even close to. The cat would also get stuck in stretch mechanic sometimes and would randomly let go. One of the levels transitioned to another without letting me collect all the fishes.
That being said, the game is still fun to play when it works, and the levels themselves are well designed (if you don't count the collisions).
Nice job! The graphics and artstyle are excellent, and this is a unique use of "scaling". There was some creative use of the physics of stretching. Some of the puzzles got pretty tricky. I got stuck for a bit on #6 in particular, because of the "jumping" mechanic. I did have a hard time with the one-way walls/ floors. I wasn't clear on when/how I could pass through them til the last few levels.
This is the first game I tried out here at GAME OFF 2023. Great work on the cute animating graphics and retro-modern sound. I finished up until Level 6 Sailor Cat before I decided to get some rest. Definitely lots of things we can learn from your game! Cheers!
Wow! I am surprised that this one has so few ratings! Most underrated game! I really love it, the overall atmosphere feels great and it's just relaxing toplay your game. I like the concept of being able to stretch in both ways! Great job!
Alright so, multiple things here.
I love the aesthetic and the overworld, somehow it makes me thinks of Krusty's Fun House (I know, really obscure reference, but still). The music is good and the little sound effects are nice too.
Now... In the web version, I can't get past the story telling part, the dialogue doesn't start for some reasons. Also, using Space for a confirmation in the main menu instead of Return seem wrong. I'm sure a lot of people couldn't get pass that.
For the puzzle, I'm not sure I understood how the wood plank thing worked... It seems like you can only go one way, but there's no visual indicator to tell you what that one way is, so it just makes it frustrating to test every single plank.
For the stretch mechanic, I feel like it has a lot of possibilities, but I feel like the implementation is a little clunky. I got stuck a couple of time, and I didn't understand why, and then I could jump of again, still not knowing why. It feels like the stretching and the jumping should be 2 differents mechanics and the stretching should have very specific rule (like can only stretch when not moving, no moving while stretching, these kind of stuff).
All in all, I think it's a nice visually polished game, but I think the mechanic need a little bit more rework to be intuitive to the player. Keep it up!
I ABSOLUTLEY love the art style and concept of the gameplay. reminds me of kirby forgtton land! one bug i noticed on level 2, i died a lot and got the right side fish and it immediately went to the next part without collecting the left side. on level 6, the cactus i feel is too easy to collide with. in general that level feels super hard compared to the others, it has to do with the Collison of the hazards. i couldn't've make it past level 6, as i kept dying lol. otherwise a lovely polished game!
I tried playing the web version, but somehow the mouse is not usable in that version, so I wasn't able to navigate the main menu to start the game.
Hi Lucas1550, we have seen you game in the Discord channel and we are really happy that this is finally published!
