I got a firefly stuck in a wall in one level and almost softlocked myself lol, thankfully I managed to work through it blind.

I love the lighting effects and the sound design, and this was a very creative interpretation of the theme!

I'm not sure what the point of the ladybugs was... once you get the... dragonflies?... they're never used again. And I echo what others say about bug selection, I basically just spun through the scroll wheel in hopes of landing on the bug I wanted every time I wanted to change.

Developer

Firefly in wall is indeed a problem lol, we will definitely fix it in the future.

ladybugs can destroy multiple things at once, but I suppose we probably should make them easier to use, otherwise, the knives are too handy...

ladybugs can also bounce off the walls to detect boundaries, that was our design decision but it might not be that clear from the demo (thinking)

We def need to add another way to switch bugs, not only mouse scroll.

I mean, so long as I had a firefly, I didn't really need ladybugs to detect boundaries. I could just throw the firefly out and re-collect it immediately after to find my way through.

I love this game, the art style and the audio fits really well. I played on a laptop and the scrolling to change bug was hard. It would have been better to switch between the bugs in some other way, like the numbers or cycle with tab.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Yes, others have also said that the scrolling for bug selection is inconvenient… we will add some alternative inputs for the next release!

I loved the light/shadow. Made it very interesting.

Not going to tell how many times i blew myself up with my own bug 😂

Scrolling between the bugs was very hard for me on a trackpad. As a suggestion: you could bind the bugs to number keys (1, 2, 3) additionaly to switching with scrolling. Don't know unity, but I imagine this wouldn't a lot work :)

Also the music and the sound effects where nicely placed and really helped setting the atmosphere.

Thank you for the feedback! I have also realized that switching bugs is almost impossible without a mouse xD, will def add the number keys. Glad you liked the music and the atmosphere!

You’re totally speaking my language with this noir setting. I like the art and music, match well together. Having different bugs used for different utilities is a great concept, I would really like to see that explored further if you continue working on the game :) You’re getting my cogs turning on trying to come up with more ideas. Nice job guys!

Thank you very much! We will definately make an actual game out of this!

Enjoyed playing your game as well! Great idea using the canon to jump, an incredible way to simplify and add stakes to the gameplay :)!  if the other gun is removed, the player would have to evade enemies without being able to jump easily (due to the charge up), and be forced to constantly make the decision between to shoot the enemy and to use the canon for mobility. That would create interesting dynamics indeed!

I love the jazzy atmosphere ! and the visuals matched well with it, I was desapointed to see the end so quickly. You have a solid foundation to make an interesting game, the only thing that needs rework is the way we can launch a light bug and immediately collect it to use it multiple times. Great entry !

Developer

Hello! Thank you very much for your feedback, it's very valuable for us. We will be working more on the game in the coming weeks and one of our first tasks is to rework the launching system. Thanks again!

Loved your game as well! Great idea embedding the UI inside the player itself, like for the saw and bombs, since that's exactly where the player's eyes will be. Your game's art style, music and the bugs rustling along the walls really served to make me feel unsettled and stressed in a good way. It's also challenging cus I keep on dying haha. The only thing I thought might improve your game is to maybe let the player use the saw on the ore? I instinctively thought that's what I ought to do to mine the ore, but later realized to recharge I only had to walk into one.

Love the art style and controls ! Nice work

Developer

Thank you very much! I should say, your art style is truly great!

Nice game you made as well! The gameboy artstyle is such a throwback. The story is humorous, and the boss fight is very well done! Only issue is my character tend to get stuck in the corner of plates during the kitchen level xD

I really like the feel of the controls; it seems like a nice and smooth top down control set.
