Spaceship Shipping was started back in May 2020 and crawled towards being another forgotten side project until I found the Finally Finish Something Game Jam here on itch. There are lots of things that I wish I had done differently and features that I wish I had included in the game but I needed to finalise the project and leave it in a state where I was happy with what I had created.

Very nice game. Probably one of the best visuals I've seen in this jam, and great music as well. There are a couple of small things that I think could help. You could add a few more sound effects, for like fueling up for example. Some visual effects could be toned down a bit, like the camera zoom when flying, or the camera zoom when respawning. The movement is a bit too sensitive in my opinion, but I can see how that's just part of the game. I did have problems with how collisions worked though. Like Pepper Boi showed below I got stuck on geometry sometimes, and it's a bit annoying how much friction there is when touching the light blue areas. There game a point where I could exploit that friction to roll around instead of using fuel, but I don't know if that's intended. Overall great game.

I really liked this game the one complaint i have is that theres no restart button I got stuck and couldn't get out but other than that this game is AMAZING

Great game, simple graphics that look beautiful with the chromatic aberration! Not easy to just pick up, but the physics feel good and it's rewarding when you do make it through a level. Works well with a keyboard as well.

Well done!  overall it's a very pleasant game, the visuals work really well, and I like that each level is designed to focus on different concepts each time.  I know it wasnt the intended platform but I was playing on PC, and turning felt much too sensitive, which made some levels really hard (I got up to 22).  The green walls also felt like they had way too much friction too, one touch basically completely stopped you and you couldn't move along them even when thrusting.  One other thing that might help game feel / control is when using thrusters against the current direction of movement, apply a sort of bonus acceleration (sort of a "braking force", possibly proportional to the speed and direction) to help cancel out huge velocities.  Its not as physically accurate, but it might allow for more leeway/mistakes.  Oh also its great you had visual settings too. Congrats on getting it done!  (I accidentally posted in the wrong section lol)

Really fun game, great asthetic and i loved the soundtrack. Some levels can be hard tho, but honestly I just need to get good haha. By the way, i really liked the firework particles you get  when you beat the level.

It's a fun to play game. There's a lot of post-processing going on, but it looks cool. The firework VFX etc. look nice and make it feel satisfying to finish a level.

Developer

Do you think the post processing is too much? I was going for a retro kinda look. Glad you had fun mate

I think the bloom is cool and matches the style, but maybe the barrel distortion could be reduced a little bit, but enough to maintain the old school CRT look.

Really cohesive aesthetics and atmosphere! It was fun to steer the ship and how it behaved around platforms. Would appreciate an "easy gravity" mode though, as the strong pull toward the bottom made things feel kinda oppressive and made things harder than I would have preferred.

Developer

Ahh yes a completely zero G mode could be interesting, you'd need to make sure you weren't flying into walls. Might not work on android with how I have the control system set up but it does sound cool. Thanks for the positive feedback!

Amazing. Reminds me of Moon Landing games. Because of how you have implemented the music it makes very chill to fail and replay over and over again

Amazing game! The music fits in perfectly and I love the particles. Also loved how every level has its little caption, working as a tutorial at the early levels.

Thanks man, appreciate it.  Also Loot Goblin was great!

great music and gameplay, this post-processing is also a nice touch

Developer

Thanks for the nice feedback! Yeah I think the post processing is nice too, gives it a retro arcade look. I was also planning on giving it a filter that gave it a scanline effect for an even more CRT style but didn't manage to tweak it right so it looked nice on mobile devices.

This game i really good i loved the msuic. The game felt great to play and i liked how the camera would zoom in at the beginning of each level. At first i felt like the rocket was a bit difficult to control but i got the hang of it. Really good game when voting period opens tomorrow i will leave a rating.

Thanks man, I'm glad you liked the music. Not much of a musician myself so I'm proud with how the tunes I made turned out, track2 was done by Gizmodude on SoundCloud and 1/3 by myself.

Yeah it's  a lot harder on pc than it is on mobile. PC sensitivity could probably be reduced but it was tricky to get the right balance between smooth control and the ability to quickly change direction.
