A game project I've been working on since mid-2017, but started to pick up some steam at the end of 2018. It's kind of a remake of a game (demo) I made a long time ago, but this time in 3D and has some new features. This was the perfect jam to help me finally finish this thing!

This is a really cool concept!

I'd definitely like mouse controls, and after getting the coin and shooting the enemy I wasn't sure what to do.

Its also a bit frustrating when you need to move and draw nothing but turn cards, or vice versa. Maybe the player could have some sort of indirect control - like maybe there's a move deck and an action deck and you can choose how you want to draw from those decks?

Developer

Thanks much! I've started layering some mouse controls over the keyboard-only controls, but I definitely think I need to take it a step further. And making the objectives a little clearer would be good. That's a really cool idea with the separate decks too.

This was lots of fun once I got the hang of it :3 The moveset was interesting enough that I often found my way out of tricky situations in satsifying ways. Would love to see it expanded upon further. For me some of the UI was a little confusing (for example, pressing Enter to go into Discard mode and also to Fire your cards). And I couldn't figure out how to remove a card after I had placed in my queue, but those are tiny nitpicks ^^ The UI also was tiny on my screen, so having it scale up would be nice :)

Developer

Awesome suggestions thank you! For sure I need to rethink the Discard mode and there's still a lot more UI improvements I'd like to make in a future update.

I loved this, it was fun trying plan ahead and try decide if I should hold those turn and gun  cards or hope for better movement to sprint past.  I never did find any new cards though, but the potential for different maneuvers  is promising!  One issue I had was 1 move space was actually 2 ground tiles which confused me for basically the whole first stage til I realized.  I also would have liked to look around the level more before choosing my cards but it didn't really mess me up.  Great job, would totally like to see further development on this!

Yeah I should definitely revisit the ground tile thing as it bugs me too. There's kind of a hidden away feature where you can hold the C key and move the camera around with your mouse, not sure if it would have helped but thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks for the kind words!

I actually saw that right after I beat it lol, it did seem useful but I was more thinking of panning to make sure I wasn't heading down a dead end (never did end up getting stuck though).

This game actually reminds me a lot of my own entry, mostly in the way that you control your character by using certain "cards" in a specific order to move them towards a destination.

I really like the turn-based/board game approach you take, though, as it allows for more complex actions and card choices. I'll admit that I found the controls and card management system a bit too complicated at first, but it makes sense once you get used to it. Nicely done!

Thanks for the kind words and the great feedback!

Loved the concept.

I think it would be better to have most card selection controls on mouse rather than mouse and keyboard, like click to select, double click to choose, right click to discard.

Also, sometimes towards the end, I just kept discarding my cards for a few turns to get the one turn right/turn left card. I wished those two cards were always available to choose.

Overall, great job! I had fun playing it.

Love the right click to discard idea, I'll definitely have to give that some consideration. And thanks for the kind words!
