Little typo at the game fair (the "You acn do better" screen)
The pixel art was sooooo cute :3 I really love the style and am really glad you managed to finish this one :D I really liked it and it was really cozy.

Absolutely loved the whole visual aesthetic of the game, it really fits the theme well. I have some nitpicks (the stiff, grid-based movement being the biggest one), but I really adored this one... Thank you for making it!

wow, easily my new favorite! I'm an absolute sucker for the old Links Awakening art style, and you SMASHED IT! The art is crazy good, and the overall aesthetic is lovely! I love the slight metroidvania feel with the pumpkins and the hammer, and it was just a very lovely setting. 9/10 job, I just wish it had audio! Some classic music, or even general sound effects, would've pushed it over the top for me for sure! But with how polished this is, I get how game jams can be :)

It’s really impressive that you managed to implement all this in two weeks! The art is great and perfectly evocative of Game Boy classics, and so are the minigames.

Besides sound, one thing I’d like to ask if it’s possible to implement is to let the main character walk freely, like in Link’s Awakening, instead of being restricted to a grid like in the Pokémon games. I feel like it’d make getting from place to place feel more convenient if you could move diagonally, for example!

thanks! I worked really hard to get it out on time. The grid thing is kind of a restriction with GB Studio, the program i used to make this, but it might be possible. I'll try it out some time :)

This game was adorable and really fun to play. Super cozy! It was like a mix between Pokemon and the really old Kings Quest games. Made me nostalgic for the 90s. Really well done!

Honestly Im impressed! I love the way how both the world's textures and layout look, Wandering around the map and encountering obstacles that can be solved by obtaining items from other quests made exploring parts of the game's world fun! A quality game overall! Only thing I felt a tiny bit weird while playing was the Z and X keys being used to interact with things but at the same time it really gave off that one feeling of playing an old game through an emulator with the default keybinds set which in a way goes well with the game's art style. Amazing Job!

Wow, what a wonderful game! The GameBoy vibe is spot-on, and I loved all the characters. I especially liked the way you used the raccoon's tail!

Absolutely loved it. The art, humor, world design, everything! It was pretty much perfect. Can't get over how much the sprites capture that era in gaming. This would have been a childhood hit in a different time!

OKAY WOW! Was every art asset drawn specifically for this game? Like it's impressive regardless, but if it was all made from scratch within the time allotted, you're on a whole different level!!!

Great game, full stars!!!

Cool game!

In the beginning i was a bit confused because of the controls (z,x) but overall great game!

Amazing!

I  reall don't like the shit-z-x-return setup. Because you exclude everyone that doesn't have that kind of layout. Stereotypical button choices are a thing and good in their way. Was there a reason why this started exactly like the old Zelda - Links Awakening ? :) If not: It still got a chuckle out of me :3

Developer

The controls are just the standard controls for gameboy games on pc, what kind of layout doesnt it work with? Do you have a different keyboard? Zelda was obviously a big inspiration ;)

Submitted

German layout. Not everyone has the same layout and to make it not too long: Because something is established "standard" doesn't mean it's good standard. This is just my opinion and that doesn't mean I am of hatred or anything.

Developer(+1)

Alright good to know, i can add more keys to the controls no problem. Thanks for letting me know

Highly rated, Its obviously very polished and fit for the style. The gameplay is exactly like that of its time which has its ups and downs. Overall the quest aspect kept my interest and it was a great experience. Great job!

Developer

Glad you like it! The gameboy sure has it's limits ;)
