The art is very interesting, and the game felt great to play.

But sometimes the art could be a little confusing, distracting me to take some damage...

And I missed a clearer goal on the coins count... I didn't knew if I were doing well or not.

Overall it is a fun mini-game for 1 or 2 runs.

are you going to add to magighost in the future?   Cool game!

Developer(+1)

Yeah I'll release an update addressing common complaints and finishing some stuff I didn't have time for with maybe some other extras. Just so I can feel like its a properly fleshed out mini game. Beyond that though Im not sure, my focus is on finishing Mechanical Star Astra atm

Great art but it needs to be less confusing like others have said. Still cool game

Incredibly-fun, great-looking game that just felt amazing to play. Interesting non-twinstick control scheme kept things relatively-fresh; perhaps an unpopular choice, but nonetheless in my opinion a good one. I enjoyed this a lot.

Cool game, nice sound effects! Even though it was a little repetitive, the loop between killing enemies and collecting coins kept me engaged. As others have said, I think music would help the game feel a little more alive. Further, when the game ended and said I did not avoid death I was confused. I think you have a great core game here and with some player guidance, music, and variety in enemies and locations, you could have a great game! Btw I'm hoping you can check out my game as well as I'd love to hear your feedback!

Developer

Thanks! And yeah that was planned but you know, jam time limits. I'll give your game a try in a bit!

Art style and sound is good, maybe it lacks a good music to bring life to that lovely universe. I really had fun, the mechanics are good and easy to understand. Maybe add a simple HP bar to make the player more invested, because if you don't play for the score it may not be as interesting. But overall great job!

Developer

My worry with a health bar is that it'll make people think that surviving 10 days is the focus of the game, missing the coin collection system. But yeah the central issue of not having a reason to collect the coins needs to be addressed in SOME ways

Lovely art style, I really liked the use of the theme too. If I had to complain, I'd say everything felt very claustrophobic, but I see from the comments that it was intentional xD I don't know that I liked the cramped play area, but I can appreciate that it was an intentional choice and is part of the game's design :) I'd agree with some of the other comments about it feeling repetitive, and there doesn't immediately feel like there's any reason to not die, but eh it's a jam so none of these are major complaints. Good job!

Glad you had fun! The repetition/lack of BASIC challenge is a big issue that I definitely wanna address in an update, very recurring

Wonderful game! I love the visuals, the main character is so cute and appealing ^^

The game overall feels pretty well rounded, great SFX, interesting game mechanics (press for long range, hold for damage). It just keeps a little bit repetitive after a while, and perhaps the soul selling (losing) or escaping death (victory) could have a little cutscene or be more interesting than a text saying what happened, but since it's a jam I think that's understandable. Wonderful job!

Looks really good visually and the sound effects are excellent too. I also appreciate that you added in control remapping. The gameplay itself is very fun. I especially enjoyed using the flamethrower and getting up close at enemies to kill them.

My main gripe is that the overall goal of the game is too confusing. At first I wasn't sure what the coins did, or why I wasn't dying from getting hit so often, until I replayed the game several times. A quick tutorial or a guide screen would've been really helpful. Once I figured out the game's win condition, I still found it to be too difficult to win. I think instead of losing all the coins on the screen when getting hit, you should just lose a handful from your already collected amount. It will make fulfilling the win condition much easier.

Overall, great job on the game! I had fun playing it.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I hear you, the lack of clarity is a big issue, I'm relying on external stuff as a bit of a crutch atm
