How does your game fit the theme?
A cat has nine lives and after every life the cat will learn a new ability that will unlock more parts of the game.
However every death also decreases the attack power so the player has to choose whether to unlock more abilities or to stay more powerful. You can figure out your best tactic to break your own highscore.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
yes i did

Very good artwork and polish! It's a nice idea for a game loop as well. My feedback is that I thought dying from one hit felt a little too punishing

Nice job with the graphics and music. My biggest complaint is that using the mouse to attack was awkward. I think it would be better with keyboard-only controls. There are also Unity libraries for controller support, if you want to go that route.

really cute, I love the colors and the cat is adorable.  I loved the take on the theme and It was fun to play for the most part.

the cat controls weird,  the movement felt really fast and you land too fast while jumping. also the level design could use some more work, for example sometimes I died when falling because an enemy sat just off screen.

overall lovely game, but you can polish it up even more.

Genius! Excellent 9 life game-play mechanic, fitting to the theme. Catchy music and purrfect cat death SFX. I particularly appreciated the pixel art, 2D lighting, and the foreground parallax. Do you have any tips on creating parallax effects? Thanks!

Developer

Thanks for playing :) what Tips for parallax you need ? Some coding or painting ?

Submitted

thanks for your reply. Your question already helps me think about what I need to look into. There are different things I’d like to be able to do, one is simply a repeating background parallax, which would require codeI imagine, the other is longer, non repeating background set pieces, either as images or tile maps.

It's a very interesting game! I think it needs a bit more polish, in level design & difficulty curve, but I had quite some fun playing and tried to beat it different ways. Good job!

That's the most cutest game I've ever seen. The music, the aesthetic, the cat, the colors. Gosh this game is so good man.

Cute kitty = 5 stars.

In all honestly though this game looks fantastic. The pixel font, the colour palette, the environment and of course, everyone's favourite little kitty. It's just kind of like a piece of art in its own right. The concept is cool and nails the theme.

I suck at platformers so maybe this game isn't quite for me (not a negative on your part) however, I'd suggest looking at making the movement feel a bit more natural or easier to control - not sure on best describing that... I just felt that there was something about the movement that didn't quite feel right but no idea what it is specifically - could be the gravity or control while in the air, not sure.

But overall, this game was awesome and a great entry. Your art is incredible and I want to buy a poster of it! Well done.

Developer

hey thanks for playing and this big review. like to hear that :) greetings :)

Love the art and the color palette! Maybe make killing enemies a little easier: I had to spam the mouse button a lot haha. But Really nice job!

Great entry. The music was strange but alluring, and the idea of having deaths upgrade the character was an interesting one. Nice work.

Totally the best one so far. Solid 5/5 for everything. The glasses, the music, the sprites, the whole concept of learning from your mistakes. Amazing job!

Very nice platforming game,  nice graphics and sound design.
I would prefer the jumps to be more precise or faster animated cause i have to use them a lot, and it was not always the same feeling.

Very good job overall!
