"Amanda floating is the definition of it's not a bug its a feature" - Fire Phantom

Great story. At any given time I was either engrossed in the story or looking at the graphics and enjoying the hike. I think this is really well done.

Hey, I am quoted on my own game!

Thanks for playing!

The platformer parts are well designed that the player doesn't have to play them over and over again but nevertheless, it is a bit hard to keep up with the conversation. There are some bugs here and there but they are minor. I enjoyed it. Well Done!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I am working on reducing the platforming difficulty to make catching up with the conversation easier

Submitted(+1)

That was a really good twist! I think the platforming was a bit punishing considering we were also supposed to be reading dialogue, and if you missed a jump it took the wife a while to catch up to you so you might miss a few lines if that happens. I would've liked the jump to go just a little bit further t make some jumps easier, but it's not too hard as is. The story was really good and I also really liked the art style. It's a great experience all around!

Thanks for playing!

All the issues you mentioned are absolutely valid, other players also thought the same thing, right now I already fixed these problems and I will post them once the voting period has finished.

RATED!, the story is so captivating but I got to critic about the pixel art, it felt a  little inconsistent, but overall, nice game, good effort, a job well done!

also, would you kindly help rate mine too? I'd really appreciate if you do, Thanks!

I've already rated your game haha :D

Well done! the story is definitely the main catch of this game! I felt that this is something personal to you!
Great game overall, making a heavy narrative game is challenging, and you've done it immaculately! Also I love the parallax background and pixel art!

Developer

Thanks!

This game had a very good and interesting story to it. The background moving up and down with the character was a little bit weird, but it didn't take too much away from the experience! The story wanted me to know more about the main character and I liked how peaceful and calm the game was.

This was awesome and the dialogue made it so touching. Only wish is that I could control the dialogue as I would on a real hike up a summit. That way I have time to do the more challenging maneuvers without missing out. Other than that, great game!

A real trip into guilt & darkness. I enjoyed playing it a lot.

My only little feedback is it can be hard to keep an eye on the dialogue & the platforming at the sema time. Not sure how you could solve that though.

Appart from that, really good game :)

Eyo didn't know you participated lol

Really great storystelling! This is already a good game, but it could be greaterif it had some cool platforming mechanics. I think it could also work really well if it was a real pixelart game (by real I mean without interpixel movement, I really like those).

The game is so much fun, I haven't laughed this much while playing a video game in a long time. This one hits me where I want the games hit me. Also I kind of don't like Amanda's anymore, thanks :D

Congrats on a really fun game!

lmao Amanda is supposed to be nice.

I really got into the story.

In addition to the already known parallax issue, I think the speech bubbles could be already at full size and text fill it from left to right. The way it is now makes it really hard to read.

What else... When starting a new level Amanda could already be by your side instead of floating from the assumed previous position. And at the end I thought the controls were locked for a cutscene. But when I tried to move, I slipped too far into oblivion, never seeing the ending.

Good stuff, good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Hey, thanks for the review!

I actually thought of the bubble idea, but I didn't do it because I didn't think it will look good, although I might experiment with the bubble idea and see how it goes, although in the settings you could slow the text down, so it stays longer on the screen.

Amanda should be next to you when you enter a new level, doesn't she?

Oh, and the last cutscene bug, I hate it so much, other cutscenes lock your movement, but I forgot to do that here, and if you want to see the ending here's a link for someone who played it (it will take you to the time of the ending):

Oh, there was  an option for the text speed? Sweet.

For me Amanda takes a bit to get to me and you can see the tail of speech bubble before it "lands". Or was it just the bubble..? Can't remember anymore haha.

Great story, but I was not prepared for the end ;(

Developer

I should probably put a disclaimer at the beginning of the game.

Submitted

At first I thought Amanda floating is a bug. In the middle i noticed amanda speaking weirdly but i thought nothing of it. Then she stopped and i thought it was another bug but when she came with her black shadow my heart started beating faster. Other than the few bugs others mentioned it was great.

Developer

Yeah, I should probably clean out the bugs, so this confusion doesn't happen,

I saw someone play and when he reached the final level he though Amanda disappearance was a bug.
