In what way does your game fit the theme?
It is a scenario based in a fantasy world war time. The battle gets really chaotic. Thus matching the theme.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, all the code and assets were made by me from scratch.

Unfortunately, I think I had the resolution issue mentioned in other comments. But I get the sense of the game and I must say I'm impressed with the work behind it! The graphics are really well designed as well, so loved them too. Overall, the ideas you had were pretty ingenious and cool!

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Hey thanks man! So sorry you had to face the resolution issue ;( I tried to fix it for so long, it jst doesn't work for some people. I'll try fixing it after the jam once I reupload a better version of it.

Really cool game! reminded me a little of "age of war". It was fun to build structures but it was pretty hard to keep them intact while fighting off the enemy. Maybe the pieces could have a structural integrity component? so that they don't die immediately from the canon. You could also add a way to repair components. I think it would be cool if the islands were bigger to allow for more complex structures and opening it up for ships damaging the structure without that being too overpowered.

Better player feedback in the form of sound and better hit effects could have gone a long way and the airship was confusing. I was thinking it would just be a slow bomber run that does damage to everything.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

hey man thanks for playing! I really like the idea of player being able to repair the structures, I'll look into it. Unfortunately, I cannot make the islands any bigger because it wont leave much room for the battle area. Or maybe I could make the entire map bigger hmmm...!!

I couldn't make any music for the game I ran out of time :(

The airship spawning method was confusing for a lot of people I should've  made it more clear somehow. It will spawn wherever the player clicks. Airships also don't do much damage because initially I planed their main goal was to help player defend the enemy giant cannon ball. But I wasn't able to implement it properly... again due to time restrictions.

The idea is great and the art is great. But game design is poor, I learned how to play only after reading comments here. And the game is too hard, tons of enemy ships start coming up soon, while your weak base barely stands still. This game has a great potential, I wish you good luck!

upd.: oh, when looking at other players screenshots I suppose I have some wrong boundaries on my screen

DeveloperSubmitted

I tried fixing the resolution issue for hours but for some people the resolution is jst messed up for some reason. And yes the game is super unbalanced lol. I m planning on releasing a better version after the jam ends. Thank you for playing!!

Looks cool but I seemed to have a problem creating ships, I could build the structures but neither the ships or the airship buttons seemed to do anything.

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you for playing. The ships do come from the left side (if u hv enough resources to summon them). They are rally slow tho so it might take a couple of seconds. you can spawn airship wherever you want to on the screen by clicking.

Enjoyed playing! involves strategy ,got the hang of it the second time and played it multiple times, simple controls, cool graphics, got chaotic in the middle of the game which is very appropriate, overall great game! keep it up!

DeveloperSubmitted

Hey! thanks man! Yes, I should have made a better tutorial for the game.

Submitted(+1)

I built a pp using the shapes. Very nice 5/5.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

The enemy tower is an actual replica of my GIGA PP  ;)

I didn't get what I was doing until the second try. It's a cool concept with interesting resource mechanics. Adding some music would help to be more immersive.

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you! yes, I some music and sfx would make it so much more fun. I will definitely work on making a better tutorial for the game.

This is one of the coolest ideas I've seen!

It took me one "play-through" to understand what I am doing, one more to learn and the third one to "should-have-won": my ships crossed the right part of the screen, but the game continued playing and as with the second playthrough, at some point the huge unbeatable hoard of enemy ships started (as on the photo).

Also, as already said, air ships don't work: I figured out they had to be placed (although that was unintuitive given boats are placed automatically), but air ships still don't work - they just drop bombs which don't cause any damage, neither to enemy boats, nor to enemy cannon, nor to enemy blocks.

I figured to place triangle blocks in a way so they fall and stack (as on the photo), but I think they should be rotatable.

Circle block as it is doesn't make sense: it 3 times as fast as triangle, but 6 times more expensive and to easy to roll away.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

First of all.. Thank you so much for playing the game till the end!! I was so worried that because I didn't get any time to balance the game properly no one would play it till the end. And yes you did actually complete the game, the goal was to reach the right end of the screen. I don't know why you weren't prompted to the win screen. I will definitely look into it.

About the airships. They do work. They are supposed to be placed by the player do take a hit from the enemy giant cannon (as to protect your build) so I set their damage to be very low, Because their main purpose was to defend.

I had different plans for the circle block. It was suppose to summon a free airship every time the clock hand completes a round (the circle block is actually a clock). But unfortunately I didn't have enough time to implement that as I only had 3 days to work on this game :(.... So in a rush and to give them a purpose I did what I did lol.

I know the game is not balanced at all and a lot of people have mentioned that. The unbeatable horde of ships in the end is one of them. Really sorry!! XD. I do plan on working on it further. maybe after the jam I'll release a proper balanced, well thought out version of it(with music).

Thank you for your review.

They are supposed to be placed by the player do take a hit from the enemy giant cannon

I am not sure it can effectively work like this because cannon always changes direction and airships' time is quite limited. I was constantly prepared to place a block (square or triangle, depending on what I had selected) right on the projectile to cancel it. That's how I preserved a nice structure as on the picture.

ooooo interesting strategy

Art and idea are super cool.  Air ships didn't seem to work.  Also I really wanted to copy the enemy style of flipping triangles but didn't see a way to rotate.  Really cool, well done!

DeveloperSubmitted

Unlike the first two ships the air ship is actually supposed to be placed by the player wherever they wish to place it. So you click wherever you want the airship to be and it would spawn there. I should have made it more clear I guess. The blocks are physics based so if you want a triangle to fit upside down then u'll have to drop it in certain way. Thank you for playing!!

I love the art style, but the lack of sound made it difficult to be immersed in the gameplay.
would love to see this fleshed out more and play it again.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

I definitely plan on adding music and making it more balanced in the future. Thank you for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed it, be sure to let me know so i can play it again

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

I will!!
thank you for being so interested!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool, had no idea what I was doing at first though.

Submitted(+1)

Let's get the obvious out of the way, there is no sound and no feedback. So that's that. Other than that I don't think the theme is quiet there but I get what you were going for. The art-style is gorgeous. It's really unique and fits really well. Also the gameplay has some good ideas but it's not as fleshed out as it could be. Overall, good job :)

DeveloperSubmitted

that was such a good critic thank you!
I made this game in just 3 days because I was also working in a group on a second game for this jam. So unfortunately I didn't get enough time to tweak it into being balanced  and couldn't add any sounds either :(
But I do think that the game matches the theme pretty well. Its a war after all lol.

Submitted(+1)

very cool game, in my opinion on of the best I have played so far in this jam. The physics are nice and the graphics are very cool. Only bad thing is that the game isn't very balanced, but I think its just not very easy to balance a tower defense game in just one week

DeveloperSubmitted

Yes, I agree I should hv paid more attention on balancing the game but I only had 3 days to make this unfortunately. So a lot was missed. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Frustrating and fun. The lack of input feedback it's a bit weird but it's a cool game

DeveloperSubmitted

I ran out off time before I could check and do any last minute tweaks. So sorry you faced lag in the game. I'll definitely look into it.
Thank you for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

Hey man great game, great game. I think there should have been some particles when the canon breaks the blocks.

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you man!
I did plan on adding particles and screen shake but I ran out off time :(

Submitted

its alright do you mind checking my game?

Submitted(+1)

Interesting mechanics, although it takes  a while for the things you buy to actually deploy. Loved the graphics, tho some sound design wouldve made it better. Awesome Job!

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you!
Yes some music and sfx would hv made it so much more better!

I loved the idea with the physics-based castle building. I did have some confusion with the win/loss condition - I think there is a resolution issue with your web-based version.

DeveloperSubmitted (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for playing bro!
It took me so long to properly implement the physics based building system. But it was worth it.
I'll look into the resolution settings it works fine on my pc.
Thanks for mentioning that

Like the art style  & enjoyed trying to build a tall tower with the various block shapes - would have been nice to be able to rotate them . Is there a way to destroy the enemy tower / canon?
BTW Could only get airships to place - not the other 2 ship types

DeveloperSubmitted

Hey man thank you for playing!
the other two ships actually spawn at the left side of the player's tower.
You only get to control where you put the airships so that you could defend against the giant cannon shots.
