In what way does your game fit the theme?
The game is a standard platformer, but does get very chaotic with every time the player beats a level.
The last playthrough will be visible as a ghost, but the player can interact with it.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code by myself, but some art and music was made by other people. They are credited in the credit section.

Amazing game, I loved the graphics a lot and sound was also good, especially the sound signaling a new playthrough starting, it is veryy chaotic too, the 8 second limit contributing to it a lot. But easy level felt a bit hard to me regardless XD, the ghosts just kept bouncing onto each other and then bouncing me back which slow it down a lot. Dashing was probably something I used a lot to make life easier too. Movement was a bit bugged tho at times, it would either register late or register wrong, e.g. if I wanted to jump right I would press Space+D but D would register first and then space and I would need to make sure I was pressing space first all the time which was a bit uncomfortable. Apart from this its all good.

Give my game a try? https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1077360

the gfx is very amazing

can u check my game

The visuals and the sound  of the game is a style that I really like.

This game promises a lot of chaos when you are a few rounds in and it is fun to try and beat your previous highscore.

Sometimes the response time isn't the best but overall it is a pretty good game.

Hey, thanks for commenting and rating my page; quite a unique game concept you have here, I've never heard of the player interacting with speedrunner ghosts.

Was certainly fun to mess around in, and the chaos ramps up over time — fits the theme well. Game is quite aesthetically pleasing. I just found the walljump handling a bit strange — but otherwise, great job.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. yea, the movement is kinda strange/hard sometimes, gonna make it better!

Great visuals and sound. Inventive, chaotic premise.

Control responsiveness needs work.

Overall a very strong entry.

Well done.

Thank you very much!

i think the difficulty of each level is marked well, and i like that your own actions directly contribute to the chaos rather than it just being generated for you. the game looks and sounds great, and i really enjoyed that there was a cutscene added to the first level.

i did struggle a little with the dash mechanic, which didn’t always seem to fire. possibly this was just a result of hitting the colliders of my past self, but the game’s quick pacing made it difficult to read what was going on sometimes. i do otherwise enjoy the concept a lot!

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback. The dash only works once after you left the ground, although you can jump off your ghosts. that probaly led to the confsion. gonna improve that!

Looks great for a game that is made in a week! The controls are a bit strange (movement) and it definitely fits the theme since it gets very chaotic! Overall a very cool game but I wish there was an easier mode than easy lol (I probably just suck but still, 8 seconds to realize what is going on for the first level is a little bit short for me)

this game was really fun, keep it up

Playing through it i was confused as to what the chaos element was, but over time I started getting more and more into the game. THIS GAME IS SO CHAOTIC! That's what makes it fun :)

Thanks for the feedback, glad you had fun :)

Really interesting concept that fits the theme well. I think the idea but I do feel like 20 is a bit too many rounds and it starts to get repetitive. Really cool graphics also. Although I will say that it took me a little while to figure out which one I was, so making the past rounds a more desaturated color could help with this. Also, it doesn't make sense to me that pink kills you when you are pink yourself. These are minor things and I was able to figure them out pretty quickly but thought I would bring it up. Good game.

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! Definitely gonna improve some stuff u said!

great game fits the theme perfect

but after like the 7-10 round it starts to be real chaos and imposible to pass

but other then that i really liked the game

Great job!

Developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Every level is possible to beat!

This is amazing, competing with yourself. This is an astounding concept.
one issue was the jumping, it seemed a little extreme, when I pressed the space bar and jumped about 20ft in the air, but the idea is so good that I can't fault it. 5 star!

Question: where did you learn that mechanic to repeat your movements?

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

About your question, do you mean how i did it or if there was a youtube video or something like that?

Submitted

youtube! if there is a video explaining it? I'm not expecting you to type it all up. I watched a gdc presentation by jonathan blow about the concept, but how it is actually achieved is eluding me. but if you want to keep your secrets, I'll understand.

Developer

ah i dont know if there is. i just took the position of the player every frame and added it to an array and when the level restarts, i instantiate a new object which goes through that array every frame

Submitted

well thank you for explaining that, I suspect this would be through a fixedupdate? Were short levels a consideration for you? please tell me to shut up if my questions are annoying.

This one for me is a 10/10. If I had to be picky I'd say the same as MattBolere, give me more lives to keep playing! xD

Very interesting concept, and nicely executed! Managed to beat the first level using only dashes :)

Really good idea, and great execution!

I just completed the two easy levels. I wish we could keep trying without being limited to 3 lives, that would encourage me to keep playing. The hard levels are really hard!

Nicely done, good game!

Developer

Gonna implement a infinity mode. Thanks for the feedback!
