The Player must combine the use of their fire weapon with their combustible gear and combustible environment, to make them stronger together.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Bravveo and I collaborated and made everything from scratch.

I rather have a tutorial part of the game rather than a big "Here are the controls on the very first page", super hard to remember. I kept dying in the very beginning to the right, because I had no clue what I was supposed to do.

The music was okay, a little repetitive though.

The background and foreground felt a bit too close in contrast, which didn't make it obvious I could actually jump into the background, I thought it was a wall.

When I finally figured it all out and jumped down into the "cave" and the oil part, it started coming together for me.

Then I got to the bomb part...and I was like what's going on.

The issue is, in most platformers, you don't want to typically fall down into the unknown, so it's again not obvious that you can do that without dying.

Typically, when you lay down a bomb, you run away ASAP. I was trying to figure out how to get the bomb to explode, finally, I figure out, well, I need to light it... but it instantly blows up in your face, without damaging the player, seems strange, I feel like it could have had a delay, with fuze going down for a few seconds until BOOM!

In the one part where you have to oil the block and move with it across the spike trap... I feel like the character should have moved along with it if it was standing on top of it.

Now, with all that aside, I think you have a great prototype/start for a great game. You should continue with it!

A really polished game with a nice concept, good job!

Nice and solid game. And Ive finished it, so that means its not super hard :-) At first I was a bit confused about controls and everything, but got it in a short while. My hero goes dark after first movement - web version, dont know if thats intentional.

The game is so good! It feels like a console game! Well polished and good controls! Great work man!

Great game, can't believe you did this in a week!

I love the level design of this game. How you have to loop back to where you were previously with new understanding and new tools how how to get past objects. I hope you choose to continue this project

Question for you: Did you use the default input system in Unity, or the new input system package?

I ask because every Unity game I download has an issue where the horizontal axis is always pushed left, resulting in basically unplayable games. Your game is so far the ONLY Unity game I've downloaded that didn't have that issue.

Developer

We used the new Input System, it was a bit odd to learn but once you do its a lot better than the default imo.

I love this game. I spent like 30 minutes there. Really good job. Also music is great.

This is a lot of fun to play! I really like the way that you set up the lighting in the game; it looks beautiful! One thing that you could do is add the controls to the game description. I found myself forgetting the controls near the beginning and I think it would be helpful to be able to see them whist in-game!

This game is fantastic. I loved to see the unity lighting system with sprites, it's always something that I've wanted to do. Though, it was kind of hard to see the main character sometimes. It was fun and just the right length.

Very fun! To be honest I'm not usually a fan of platformers but this one nailed it pretty good! Movement feels very right! Challenges were fun to figure out what to do!

I loved exploring the metroidvania world! I ended up making a metroidvania too, so I thought your world design was really cool and fun to see. I also had the bug a few other players had where crates would fall on the torch, but I played the web version instead of the download, so I'll cut you some slack there :) Game design wise, this is one of my favorite jam games I've played yet!

I love the art and general aesthetic of the game.  Making all the equipment rely on the torch is genius. The world design was also very well done. Overall, this is a tremendous submission to the game jam.

Game is looking amazing! It took time for me to get used to controls but maybe its just me :) I liked that you have a lot of fun mechanics with not a lot of items. Great job!

Great game! Art is on point and the mechanics are fun, loved burning the leaves. Good job!

Nice game! I love the art and controls! The idea for setting things on fire is amazing! I didn't manage to get the bomb on the web version, probably something I didn't understand or missed. But I really liked the feel of the game!

I really enjoyed the game. I got a gamebreaking bug in one of the very last puzzles that forced me to restart  to finish the game, but I loved the atmosphere and both the lighting and the camera were great. Keep it up!

Developer

Thanks for playing!! Which puzzle was the game breaking one? Also was it in the Web version or the .exe version?

(1 edit)

It was the web build. I belive it was the very last puzzle, right before the section filled with enemies. You had to push a crate with a torch to light up some leaves and push a lever. That made some extra crates fall, creating a path over the spikes.

Restarting fixed the bug and I could complete the game with no issue. I can't really tell what triggered it.

I got the same bug on the downloaded windows version. Still fun though!

This is great. Love that things are multi purpose like coating blocks in oil for them to slide. Had an issue were I got stuck on a puzzle so I didn't make it to the end. Overall great though.
