Ranked from 25 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
The game use the rewind mechanics of a Yoyo. Yoyo can only break stone when it's rewinding.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all of the code. I created all of the 3d and 2d assets. Music and SFX came from the unity asset store.

The style of your game is very, very unique !

Love the atmosphere and the pseudo-creepy music !

Good job !

The visuals were amazing and created a very good atmosphere. The yo yo itself was very well programmed. The biggest problem is that the gifts get stuck in corners and then there is no way out. The points to hook on were very well spread out and overall a very good game for being made in just a week.

Could you please rate my game too? Its not as good as yours but still it would mean a lot to me if you rated my game.

Here are some of my thoughts.

What I liked:

- The juxtaposition of a Yo-yo with the bleak atmosphere of the map is really unique and  entertaining.

- The stylistic graphics gave the game a very unique feel.

- The gameplay concept of having limited moves due to the limitation of your string is really interesting.

What I think could be improved:

I wish that when you moved in the reverse of the last direction you went, it didn't cost you another piece of the string. I also wish there was a way to only partially rewind.

The gift boxes can get stuck in the corner, with no way (?) to collect them after that.

Overall, it's an innovative and strangely atmospheric experience. I enjoyed it!

I didn't quite understand how the shovels worked. I always got stuck on them.

Developer

Probably a bug,  the only way to get stuck if you run out of string to use. The shovel is  just a anchor point  to stop you from rewinding all the way back to the beginning if you toggle with the Q key.  Thanks for the feedback.

I really like the game and got into it! It is easy to push the boxes with gifts into a corner where you can no longer break them. Maybe a tool is needed to move  get them into a better position? Overall really enjoyed it.

Developer

I'm glad you like the game. I plan on adding a tool to fix the mistakes in the future builds. Thanks for playing

This is a very well designed game and the gameplay was actually interesting on how you must move and smash gravestones with your yo-yo. However, my problem stems from the graphics. It's not bad and it's actually good, but some textures do confuse me when it comes to whether or not a wall or a passage is there. If you could change the floor to where the user could see there's a passage, then it would be spectacular. Great job!

Developer

I appreciate the feedback. I definitely will update the visuals to make it easier to navigate.

Hey Nyruk! I thought this game was incredibly well designed, and a strong use of your resources during the week. The 2D/3D art style is fantastic; the level layout is solid, really gets you thinking about how to navigate around. The music fits. It's also probably the first yoyo-horror-maze-puzzle-time-reversal game I've ever played. This is definitely one of my favorite submissions!

I only have a few small pieces of feedback: one, some minor smoothing on the camera follow would help; it feels a bit jerky when it goes around corners. Two, long rewinds can be a little dull -- maybe scale the rewind speed based on the amount of rope between the yoyo and the last checkpoint? Three, once the rope is long enough the extra string feels a bit.. extra? Not sure if this is a really problem or how to resolve it.

Super cool, thanks for sharing!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you like. Making the rewind speed based on the rope length is a good idea, I will play around with that concept. The camera is very jerky going to smooth it out while I fix some bugs.

It's amazing! I love the art style and your approach to rewind mechanic.  The location of checkpoints and collectables are so well thought too which makes it a pretty pleasant experience.
I just think it would be better not to reduce the thread if you're going back the same way you came from.

This is brilliant. cant believe the number of ratings are so low. the look and style combined with the atmospheric music goes so well together. This is one of the more original submissions I've seen so far.

its a bit annoying when i tie myself to a shovel but go behind it so i cant rewind causing me to untie the shovel and rewind to the beginning. Also, took me a while to understand how to break objects. Other than that good job

It's kind of nice, but it's easly to get lost. I love your work on the art and the sound ! Great job.

Enjoyed the game but I couldn't finish it. There seems to be a bug where the yoyo can't move anymore when it touches the shovel. It's a shame becauce I would love to play through it. Also I found the directions a little bit unclear. But it will not affect my rating as I don't thing anyone can make a bugless game in a week. Especially when it looks SO good :)

Developer

Thanks for finding that bug, I didn't know that one existed. I'm going to work on the tutorial to make it more intuitive

This is a very awesome game! Love the use of the theme and the mechanics with the yo-yo. Got a bit lost when trying to find gifts and may have gotten some of the gifts stuck and was unsure how to break the stone they were on. Loved the art and the sounds. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing my game. Sadly at the moment once you get gifts stuck, you have to start over.

I really liked the art style and the way you interpreted the 'rewind' theme in a unique way. I would never have thought of a yo-yo!
