How does the game fit the theme?
A detective lost his job and has to put his career, his house, his livelihood all on the line by solving cases to save his town and earn some cash.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Sound effects were gathered from royalty free sources. Other credits and attributions included in the source files. The drawing, code and everything else was developed by me (even though I'm not the best artist lol)

Worked on developing this game for a little some years ago. Stopped pretty early, took a really long break and decided to finally lock in and put in work to finish it for the game jam.

How many people worked on the game?

This game looks so well thought, I can see the story was well thought out and that's impressive for a Game Jam! Good job!

So far this might be the best entry I have played. Love the pace of the dialog and the art. Even if at times I didn't get what I was supposed to do the mistery around it was intriguing. Only thing that I have to point out is: there are great cut scenes and story telling, why the only thing that does not look good are the first two screens shown at the start :D Anyway great job (btw tv creeps me out, but detective music bass is awesome ahahah)

Really interesting take on the theme , amazing game !

Really loved the game. The art is silly and goofy, the music is amazing, and I love detective style gameplay 10/10 Can't wait for the next case

I Love this game, The Art style while basic screams Indie and fits the theme and narrative of this game perfectly with all the greyscale colors, the Music does tend to get repetitive. It was really fun to play and its clearly visible that you put a lot of hard work into this, Rated 10/10 in all categories. this game deserves to win. Highly Underrated😁😁😁

Thanks so much for the kind words. Glad you liked it.

I like these sort of deduction games! There was some funny dialogue in there, but I wish a bit more time had been spent on grammar/punctuation/etc as it breaks immersion otherwise. I like the art though, good work putting this together!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out

Ohhh really cool game! Loved both the pixel and regular style, hope you're gonna keep expanding on this and make more cases! But I do think the connection to the theme is kinda loose (I think that if he hadn't lost his job, but was going behind Mitch's back to get cases would make it more "risky"). But either way, absoluetely lovely experience! :)

Developer

Thanks for giving it a try!

This was so satisfying to play! I love the little case mini game! It felt like I was solving a riddle :) I got an A+ haha I especially liked how you had Kyle explain why it was the suspect at the end, it made me feel even smarter for figuring it out xD

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Wow thanks for checking it out. Congrats on the A+. You keep those points all the way into case 2 so it adds up

I had  lot of fun playing it, I'm not really into narrative games but this kept me on the hook

Love the art, how the scenes change, the music and the humor. This is incredibly well done.

The story building is nice and it really gives you motivation to solve the case.
That goes for the second case as well.

The game could benefit from running a quick spelling check on the text you put in the game, you can do so with chat gpt, a spell checker or even word.

When solving the case it would perhaps make more sense to leave the selection of the culprit as the last slide, currently the detective notes comes after the selection of the culprit.

Bravo :)

Developer

Thanks for the notes. Glad you liked it.
