How does the game fit the theme?
The story is about a machine meant to make the protagonist rich, but things go wrong as the machine goes haywire and the characters try to shut it off.
You've received some messages from an old friend, Dyke. He tells you that you were wrong to leave him, and his invention will make you both rich. He tells you this while also telling you to read the news, where you realize the Gear prices have shot up into the millions.
Seeing this you visit Dyke to confirm his claims about getting rich quick. When you meet Dyke, you're confronted with a massive machine that supposedly attracted gears from across space. He turns it on to show you it's magic and seeing it work you get your spaceship to go collect as many gears as you can, what could possibly go wrong...
While collecting these gears, you realize the machine pulls gears, no matter where they are, that includes those inside asteroids as well. And ofcourse, Dyke being Dyke, he forgot to make the OFF switch.
Your job is to ensure nothing goes wrong while Dyke tries to figure out how to shut off the machine. Here's hoping you can survive and collect enough gears for the wealth of many lifetimes.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

I found the gameplay loop quite fun. For example, I liked how challenging it was dodging all the asteroid later on in the game. But, this game could have been better if any sound was implemented into the game, as I really didn't hear any sound through my playthrough.
Nice little intro cinematic. I didn’t realize there were upgrades at first because I kept accidentally left clicking to shoot when the upgrade window opened lol
I like the DA and the gameplay, too bad there is no sound
Very original take on Asteroids, I had lots of fun.
The upgrade system kept me going.
1-bit art style is also really neat and very well implemented.
Eyy thank you! :]
Never played asteroids myself, but I can definitely see the connection <3!
Glad to hear you liked it amigo! (^ω^)
Really enjoyable, a nice QoL addition would be a visible indicator for time between shots.
That is an awesome idea! O_O I will be sure to add that asap after the jam! :]
Thank you for playing and giving that feedback amigo! I appreciate it! <3
Awesome game, an amazing art style and a cool gameplay mechanic with the gravity field. Kept grabbing upgrades by accident though, because I didn't realise it was held to shoot (mb) :p Also, I'd recommend changing the name of one of your characters. Way to high quality of a game to have a character with a slur for a name :3
OH GOD! I DIDN'T KNOW! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ∑(; °Д°)!!!!!!
I can't even change it until the Jam is over NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! (◢ д ◣)
Thank you for letting me know, and here I thought I made a cool name for a character :'].... I will remember this forever....
Thank you for playing too! And will be sure to change description for the shooting mechanic, glad ya liked it! Will change the name for sure too!
I really enjoyed the game, its aesthetics and physics. Awesome! 👍
I just wish there was some sound 😅
Glad ta hear it! x]
Will be sure to add sound after the jam! I got burnt out is all ((유∀유|||))
I love the art style and really enjoy the game play, even though the control are a bit hard, or it's might be me that can't control it properly XD. The quietness is kinda frustrating. Some sound effect and music will make it feel a lot more polished. Overall fun game and cool concept!
Honestly, nope, the controls were just physicsy so I can understand the difficulty 😅🥲*
I burned out for this jam, considering I was doing 2 jams in a row for the first time so I didn't get to work on sound design, but will be sure to do that once the jam is over!💙
Thank you for playing!😊 <3
A bit hard to control the ship
But it grows on u.
Other than that, the art looks amazing, love the black and white aesthetic
In all a very fun little game :D
Yep, was trying a physics based movement for once 🤔🤷🏻♂️
Thank you so much for the kind words!😊🙇🏻♂️
And thank you for playing too! <3
