How does your game fit the theme?
This is a two player game where one player is locked in a dark room with a single door. This player must communicate what they hear to the other player to figure out where they are and... what's behind the door!

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All code was written by me. The map was created with Inkarnate.com, using their assets and assets from PeaPu. Music was aquired from FreeSound.com.
Licence to use all assets was aquired.

Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! If you wanted to look at the vod again in the future here it is timestamped to your game

I really want to try to play this WITH someone since that seems key to the experience, so I'm sorry if I don't get a chance to. I will come back and review and update this post if I can make it happen. Hopefully with a couple of days left, I can find someone.

Thank you again for playing/rating Untangled. This game looks awesome and I really want to try it!

Okay! Whew! Got a friend who plays Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes with me and we were able to try it!

Love the concept and I'm really impressed by how quickly you were able to put this together. This is definitely the kind of thing I think you could expand into full release. The map was well designed and was a cool mechanic, similar to the book in Keep Talking and the way you utilized the theme was really cool too!

We didn't get the right answer every time so there was a bit of confusion there, but eventually we were able to progress and got the hang of it.

Great work and thank you again for playing Untangled and leaving such kind feedback! I'm glad I was able to get to this before the jam ended! Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Hey, I'm super glad you got a chance to try it with a friend :D, especially since you two have played Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, as it was a huge inspiration for us!

Thanks for the rate and the excellent feedback!!!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah! I'm sorry it took so long! That particular friend has a much busier schedule than I do, so we just had to find time. I figured that was the inspiration so it seemed like it would be a good fit! Glad we got to check it out! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Don't worry about the time you took, honestly, I played your game cause it looked right up my alley. I wasn't expecting a rating that's why I didn't link my game. But I'm really glad you played it cause you and your friend were my ideal audience! Thanks again! Also, while the original concept didn't come from Keep Talking and Nobody explodes, the whole separate pdf idea did and it saved me from wasting days on getting networking and multiplayer  to work lol

Submitted

Really cool concept. Didn't really have anyone to play with so I tried to solo it. Didn't work out too well, but it looks and runs good. Solid submission!

Developer

Ah shucks, yeah you would have to use the map by yourself, which makes it tougher.

Thanks for giving it a try, much appreciated :D

Hello,

Starting off, Wonderful design and concept for the game jam. When me and my friend started playing we were pretty confused of what's happening but once we figured out it was a blast. Almost every level was a challenge and retty satisfying once completed.
Some issues I had with the game are:

1. I would have personally liked the rooms to be a bit brighter as there was nothing of any horror aspects in game and would have made it easier for me to know where I am.

2. Could not figure out level 5 and level 9, don't know why but level 9 drove us crazy and made us quit the the game after finishing the rest.

3. maybe a bit of a better visual cue would have made the game more satisfying and pleasing to see.

4. Had some frame drops and glitching of rooms mainly after level 6-7..

Apart from the game was pretty fun and is the first game in this game jam that I successfully finished if we leave out lvl 5 and 9. But I shall return and finish them one day deffo....

Kudos to you and have a great day!! :D

Developer

Thank you so much for detailed feedback! It's super appreciated :D

Sorry about room 9, didn't realise at the time that it wasn't on the map. Since it's not game breaking I'm not sure if I'm allowed to fix it until the jam is over. But I did upload a second map just for level 9.

But also, I'm really glad you were able to play with your friend! Thanks for playing!!!

Submitted(+1)

This is incredible, got it loaded up with ease and played it with my wife, and we both really enjoyed it. The map system was very creative.

Developer

I'm so glad you got a chance to play it cooperatively :D

Thanks for the kind comment!

Submitted(+1)

Such a unique concept, it was fun to figure them all out! Making it co-op compatible was also a great idea, these Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes type of games are rare and we need more of them!

Some levels wer eeasier, some harder, but lvl 9 I just couldn't figure out. I hear both a temple and a train, but the code is not 2834 or 5890. Any idea?

Developer

Wow some great scores! Thanks for playing!!!

Sorry, level 9 has a code but I accidentally forgot to put it on the map, the correct code is 6714. I might upload a fixed map after the jam cause I'm not sure if this counts as gamebreaking or even if it counts as a bug lol.

Submitted(+1)

Oh, I get it! Thanks for the clarification, I was starting to get mad hah

Submitted(+1)

Really cool concept, just played it together with my friend. Some locations were quite tricky to figure out but it was lots of fun to play, trying to figure out where the other player is at! The UI design is also looking great, really liked that one!

Developer

That's awesome! So glad you got to try it with a friend :D

Submitted(+1)

very great idea, I have no clue, how to find the right code, because the sounds didn't made much sens to me, but Its a really cool experience :))

Developer

Thanks for giving it a shot! Sorry if it was a bit confusing.

There's a separate map included with the game that displays all the possible codes, the sounds change depending which warehouse you are trapped in. So if you hear a farm in front of you, then you can check the map for all the warehouses that are near farms. If there is also a river on your right, then that should help you narrow down the possible locations even further and figure out the correct code.

p.s. you can press "F" to focus in on the sounds which helps you hear the sound that you are looking at more loudly.

p.p.s. Thanks for playing and rating!

Submitted(+1)

Ahhhh, thanks!

Now it makes more sense.

Great Ui btw looks so cool

Developer

Nice! Thanks again :D

Submitted(+1)

very original idea!

I know it's my fault, but it took me 15 minutes until I saw the card :), then the game suddenly made more sense.

I couldn't find all the locations but I'll definitely try again later.

In a game that is about sounds it would be very good to have a settings menu for the sounds. :)

But I really liked it and can recommend it to everyone!!!

GG

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Should have definitely included a settings menu as some sounds are louder than others. You may have already done this but pressing "F" on the keyboard makes the sound that you are looking at louder and all the other sounds softer, helps in figuring out what you are hearing and the direction.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

A really good concept and well-executed. This game also has the best-looking Main menu that I have played in the jam so far. Would be nice to have audio settings since the background audio is low but the sound effects like the explosion are loud.

Developer

Glad you liked the menu! Thank you so much for playing!

Thanks for the feedback on the settings menu, focusing on the sounds by pressing "F" raises the volume of the sound that you are looking at but some sounds do get louder than others.

Submitted

Ahhhhhh. Bollocks it doesnt have LInux version.

Submitted(+1)

I finally got to playing it with my friends! This game is really fun co-op wise and I really enjoyed the binaural sounds pointing us to the right direction. The only bug we found in the game was that there is no code that works for level 9 😭 Even after trying all 17 map codes, we kept getting "wrong" answer, so there might be a slight code issue? But overall, everything else was perfect and we had a blast playing together!

Developer(+1)

That's awesome! Super glad you played it as a team! As for level 9, I looked into it and yep, we forgot to add that one to the map. Major oversight, thanks for bringing it up! Still, glad you all had fun!

We might upload a new version of the map

Rally interesting idea for a game, the first one that I play like this.

But the sound and art designs takes the credit.

It is a great game guys.

Developer

Thanks for your kind words!

Submitted(+1)

Man, you guys did a good job on the game's design, lovely game!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :D

This reminds me when i was kid and i played i think it was some tom clancy game i cant remember exactly, but u get beeping sounds for numbers, and each beep represents a number, so i grabbed phone at home and start beeping numbers untill i got the right combination, i was like 10 yo and i managed to pull it off i was so proud for a year lol.

2 things i had issue with, on lvl 5 u only have 1 sound, water, so i just had to guess all places near water that didnt have other sounds, it was doable but not without error. 2nd is that there is no save, i solved all lvls except lvl 9 so i just went back to try 9 again to take a screenshot but it was all gone.

now those 2 things arent really important for game jam but its my feedback.

Game UI is impressive, the fact that u pulled a map for it aswell is really giving it edge over other games, the game design is definetly a strong 5, you could've worked out a bit better room since its only 1 but i understand that wasnt necessary for the gameplay although it would look better and more polished, its a shame to have such a room next to that UI!

It would be better to count how many explosions ppl had so they dont just spam random numbers from map untill they guess right, maybe make it so after X explosions you go back to lvl one, would make it more immersive!

I did enjoy the game, i solved all levels except 9, too many sounds there made it so confusing, it starts with church sound but its not near any church i've tried all, and just skipped it at that point :D

Good job!

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for the feedback! Sorry, the save system didn't work but I can't fix it until after the jam. Still, thanks for playing and giving such detailed and honest feedback, really appreciated!

Submitted(+1)

You're welcome :D

I love the idea and what a great co op game! One trouble I had was identifying what sound meant what. Other then that, good stuff :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I wanted players to debate what sound meant what when playing the game, so some of the sounds are kinda vague. Maybe too vague sometimes lol

Submitted(+1)

The idea is really creative, I liked it a lot! Had trouble identifying some sounds, but I was impressed on the level of challenge over such little gameplay. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the kind feedback! Yep, some sounds were left ambiguous for a little extra difficulty ;)

Submitted(+1)

The most advance hide and seek i have ever play

Developer

Hahaha, thank you!

Submitted(+1)

This is a good communication co-op game! There aren't many others like this but this sure is unique!
Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm really glad you liked it

Submitted(+1)

The idea is interesting, the graphics are good, the sounds are too, but I didn't quite understand how to understand which code

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! There's an additional map file included with the game that has a bunch of warehouse locations and the associated code to escape it. So by listening to the sounds around you (and focusing in using the "F" key), you can figure out where you've been trapped. If you hear a train behind you, then you can check the map for all the warehouses that are in front of the train track, then listening to other sounds can help you pinpoint the correct warehouse.

But thanks for giving it a shot, I really appreciate it!
