Hi,

looks nice. you should add 2 or 3 layers at the background with parallax, this would increase the feeling of depth in your game.

feel free to try-out and rate my game.

The game looks and sounds amazing, but it's too repetitive and not exciting in general. It's not that levels are hard (well, they might be hard for casual players, but not for someone who played "I Wanna Be The Boshy" like me), levels just aren't intuitive (don't have any idea where to go) and collecting more coins for no reason isn't really motivating.

If you ask me, the first thing you would wanna fix in this game is the way your character moves and jumps. For metroidvania or action platformer like this, smooth movement is the worst thing, it should be accurate and responsive, without any interpolation of position.

For jumping, you should implement "the more you hold, the higher you jump" mechanic to make it possible for player to reach enemies the way they want to.

Also, I don't think spreading bullets really make gameplay better in any way, so you might also get rid of that mechanic... Or make different weapons, so players could choose what to use in what situation, that could add more variety to gameplay for sure.

Overall the game has potential to be much interesting than it is right now, but good job that you made it in 7 days!

Be sure to rate my game and leave some feedback too :)

I died a bunch of times on level 1 then got tired of the music, so i Bailed out.

It might be a good game, but I didn't get to see it.

BTW: I'm guilty of making my games too difficult for jam audiences as well. When there's 300+ games to look at, it's hard to spare more than a couple of minutes on any one unless it's amazing.

Also worth noting: difficult games sell really well because twitch streamers play them to show off. So just because jammers thought it was too hard doesn't mean you shouldn't keep it that way.

I personally loved the random gunshots. It felt alive to me. Art was amazing and consistent. Only one thing,  in the second world you have, I think, badly placed collider on the edge block.

The one thing that stood out for me was the main character. I don't know why but it felt really great, looked great and as I mentioned the gunshots felt amazing to me. Simple but alive.

On the other hand the background could use bit of work. With your pixel skills it should be easy.

Great work

Interesting game. Looks very nice. Music is also very good.

However, I have a few issues.

I didn't notice the spikes at first on the first stage, maybe make them stick out a bit more. Minor nitpick.

I also didn't see the point of collecting the coins. Maybe add a counter of how many collected per stage.

I'd also remove the bullet randomness. It would get a bit frustrating to constantly have to jump and shoot because your bullets are missing and could very well lead to cheap deaths. Meaning starting the stage over again. Others have mentioned this but adding checkpoints would help this a bit.

The gravity mechanic, while cool. got a bit jarring when I went from having a big jump to a relatively small jump. Maybe start us off with normal then have us experience different kinds of gravity.

There would also be a glitch where I wouldn't be able to jump on the edge of a platform.

Overall, I'd say a good prototype. But not without some flaws.

Overall a nice game, but I hate that this one live game mechanic. It gets very annoying if you have to do the 80% of the level over and over again because you fell on a random spike or similar which you could not see below you.

But, the music and visual are really good. Nice pixel art and good separation between the planets and enemies. Good animations.

Things you could improve:

  • Remove the gun randomizer. It is really annoying to kill enemies. Especially if you just can't hit those bastards for a few seconds straight :D
  • Maybe checkpoints.
  • Better visual of the stuff below, so that you don't land on a spike.

Sorry for playing your game so late when you where the first one who rated mine, but I returned the favor ;)

Love the art style and the feel of the game. It was pretty fun. Any suggestions I would have are toward the polish of the game. First, I'd pull the camera back a bit. Second, maybe some feedback on damaging the enemies; I couldn't really tell if my gun was doing anything to them. Aside from that, good job!

Hey, I had quite some fun playing this game, but the levels were very difficult. I would have loved to have more than one Live so I don't have to restart directly every time I die.  And this happened a lot :p

I like the concept of having a different gravity in every Level as well as the pixel art style :)

The music is amazing, and the art is so to.

But the camera is to much zoomed in so it makes it hard to see what is going on. That makes for some cheap deaths wich is really dicouraging for the player. A way to do that(it would lower the difficulty as well) is to zoom the camera out a bit.

And the hitboxes are a bit off too.

Very nice game! You should probably add a nice background and reduce a bit the difficulty at the start of the game... it may discourage new players; Other than that, it looks promising!
