How did you interpret the theme?
We based the concept of the main areas around growing darkness, until in the last third of the game there are very few light sources to be found. We also interpreted Blackout to represent blind areas in knowledge (secrets, things hidden from the characters and player) as well.

Did not finish, since I'm hoping to get some other game ratings in before the deadline later today, so bear in mind this is from someone who stopped at the start of Section 2.

You two are wizards. What the hell. I knew from the very start of the jam that this was going to be the winner from what everyone else was saying about it, and it has been completely worth the hype so far. I'm sad I have to put it down since I'm pretty sure I know where at least one thing is headed and it's going to hit close enough to home to hurt. (I mean that well.) It looks fantastic, it's gotten a few laughs (oh my god the seagull,) for a game jam it's completely transcendent. I'd have my doubts on whether or not this could even be done in an 8-day timespan but, no, the theme is very much interpreted in the way you've stated here! It can't exist without B-Jam!

My only real gripe (besides that tbh it does seem like it's a bit long for a jam, but I think the voting period should've been longer anyway) is very early on, with Agatha's shop. That sign lies to you. Only GreenTea and Ale are at their listed prices, and of those, Ale lies to you about its effect. It heals one party member for 4 HP. I figure none of this is remotely intended but the impact it had on Sector 1 is pretty significant; I got very, very close to wiping out when fighting the Flowermen. It luckily doesn't matter at all past that point, but it does get the game off to a rough start.

Everything else is commendable. The visuals are fantastic, the music is great. The dialogue is funny and the story is intriguing. I'm not completely sure if I'd really want anything else! Great job!!

Thank you so much!!! Really glad you've enjoyed what you've played of it. The shop sign is an oversight from a couple of features that didn't make it into the version we put out, but once the jam has concluded we plan to update it to polish some of the areas that were left a bit rough due to the time restraints.

Really great game and fairly long for an eight day game jam. I loved the dialogue and the puzzles were great it kind of reminds me of Undertale. But the combat was pretty basic and I wish there was a bit more to it. But had fun nonetheless.

You did an extremely nice job with this game. The fight sequence is very good and easy to follow.

I do think you may have a sound problem in the fight music. When you fight sometimes you get a stutter in the music. That usually means you are in a closed loop somewhere. Unless, of course it is on purpose.

Thanks for the  great play. Your game is really fun.

I LOVED IT! Just my eyes got bleed when i saw the shop ground and workplace ground (why are they same with character outline color).

This was a very nice experience. I'm sure someone will make an LP of it sometime.

Good spritework and the early game OST was nice. (I went through the credits too fast so I didn't get to see how much was original content VS assets taken from elsewhere.) Early battle theme sounds just like OFF.

(Spoiler Section) So is the husband of Mr Sex Jerma985 doing the onion ring pog? Glad to see the 3 keys paid off with a cool easter egg, that was fun. Also is the poster in town a picture of Dorek? I'm too lazy to replay to check, but Dorek is male right? Did Dorek change gender or do people just think they look female?

There is a minor bug where you can battle Orion a second time if you try to interact with the square where they go.

Thank you!! To answer your question on the content, the boss and main character facesprites, overworld sprites, and battle sprites are all original designs. The other facesprites and enemy battle sprites were created mostly by photobashing together images from the public domain and then drawing over them, with a few exceptions, and the actual world tiles are stock RPG Maker tilesets which we reduced the color palette of and altered. A good deal of the music included is original music assembled by chopping up free samples to create basic loops, and a couple of tracks we got permission to use or were free to use already.

What is with the amount of content this game has!? This is insane... and for a week too! I really like this game. It is just so good. I also really like the look of the creature? cat? thing? It reminds me a bit of Ralsei from deltarune if they were the opposite of Ralsei since they like killing lol. Just the feeling that they know things we dont. This is a really well polished game! Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much!! The "opposite of Ralsei" is the highest honor, and kind of what we were going for!

So impressive for a jam submission, and also just a quality JRPG?! I'm still in the first Limm area (gotta get them flowers), but I think I've seen enough to go ahead and rate & tell you how gorgeous this game is. The battle music is going to be stuck in my head for at least a month--a sign of an excellent RPG haha. I also love the writing--it's funny and slightly ominous, and you've done a great job distinguishing the voices of the characters from one another. The puzzles are fun, too. Phenomenal work. I'm going to go back to playing it now!

How did you guys make all this for the game jam?! It is seriously impressive to make a game this long with so much different high quality art and dialogue in a weeklong game jam.

Developer

Thank you so much, our secret is overambition and sleep deprivation :)

That's a surprisingly long game for a game jam. Plus, it's not really my genre, but it doesn't mean that I don't like the game. The visuals are at professional level. Keep up the good work.

Developer

Thank you so much!! We actually didn't expect it to turn out that long, it was quite the surprise seeing players get to the three hours mark

I love the visuals! My only suggestion would be to maybe make a map, as I was kinda just wandering around for a bit

Developer(+1)

Thanks, glad you enjoyed! We'll consider your suggestion for post-jam updates.

Interesting game! A bit long for a game jam entry. One minor suggestion is saying where some locations are, I was wondering around looking for the work place for about 5 minutes.
