You have one week to make a game based on the chosen theme!
The spirit of B-Jam is to get out of your comfort zone and make something experimental, avant-garde or otherwise weird! Be not afraid; make something unusual, explore the subject of your hyperfocus, make a game you'd gush about!
If you're feeling benevolent, you can contribute assets you've made during the jam to the community asset bundle, free for everyone. Learn more below!
The rating period will last 3 days and games will be rated on the following criteria:
How does the game feel? Does it have a satisfying gameplay loop? What keeps you playing?
How does the game look? Is the art stylized or refined? Are there 2,147,483,647 particles on screen at all times?
How does the game sound? Are there quality SFX? Is there immersive music?
How does the game interpret the theme? Do the mechanics feel rooted in the theme?
How weird is the game? Is it unapologetially strange and interesting? Does the game feel human?
Now I'm sure you've been dying to know, what does the B stand for? In truth... nothing! It could be B for Bad, Based, B-side, Bananas... whatever you imagined it stood for, that's what it means!
The theme will be revealed when the jam begins! Be sure to submit your best suggestions in #theme-ideas, I'll be handpicking the best ones! There may even be a (non-rated) bonus theme for an extra challenge 👀

If you win as a team, you will have to discuss with me how you want to split the reward. I can't afford to duplicate the prize for all team members, you'll have to figure that out amongst yourselves!

As part of B-Jam, you can donate assets you've made for your game to the Community Bundle! You can share assets in the Discord for everyone to use in their own games, and after the jam concludes I will compile them into an asset pack and release it here on itch.io, under CC0; free for everyone, forever!
If B-Jam catches on as an annual event, the Community Bundle could prove to be an invaluable tool for aspiring developers. If you'd like to share any assets you've made, or would like to browse the assets already shared to use in your own game, visit #assets!
Please only contribute assets that YOU made to the bundle. It's important you have the right to donate your assets to be published under CC0! Everything in the Community Bundle will be fully credited, and you will have the opportunity to attach a message and links to your contributions!

Coding tools are allowed and cannot be policed, but avoid using AI generated artwork, audio, writing, etc. The goal is to make something from scratch! Blatantly AI works will be disqualified.
Using existing code or assets is okay, as long as you have the rights!
Keep in mind that regular, browser-playable games will get the most ratings, but feel free to submit just about anything to the jam! Visual novel, platformer, accounting software... just have fun making it!
