This is such a novel concept for a racing control scheme I'm kinda shocked I haven't seen anyone try anything like it before. Really great take on the theme, loved it!

How does your game represent "Power"?
HARNESS THE POWER OF SPEED
Use the Left and Right Sticks to control each rocket's thrust. Hold both sticks straight up to accelerate forward, and turn by lowering the thrust of the opposite rocket. Pull both sticks down to slow down. Brake hard with the Triggers.

That was really fun! The music is also really good. I did have some control issues such as turning left not working but when I got the hang of it, it was a good time. Fun game I'd love to see it fleshed out more.
Definitely had some fun though I did unfortunately run into a number of issues. The title screen initially wouldn't respond to me pressing anything whether on my controller or my keyboard. The game also seemed to lock up completely if I restarted from the pause menu (would reset the level but I was unable to control the vehicle or pause). I do really like the idea here though! There were some great moments of everything just clicking in and going nice and fast only for me to mess up and suddenly be scrambling to readjust my head to the unique controls haha
The game looks fantastic! I love the sound design of the rockets as you speed up. The controls took a while to get used to, but I couldn't get my Switch controller to work, so I used keyboard controls instead. It is a little challenging to make tighter turns but otherwise the two-stick acceleration is a fun idea, almost like Star Wars Podracing!

The game looks awesome and the idea is hilarious! It is quite heavy on the computer, so I couldn't even finish a single lap because of the low framerate. Would be nice to have some settings to lower visual quality to make it run better. Aside from that the game is a great addition to the jam.
really appreciate you taking the time to try out our game, sorry about the performance issues. Our programmer has already added in a menu with optimization settings for the post jam update, so hopefully that will allow more people to enjoy a proper experience. We tried using nanite in ue5 but it absolutely wreaks havoc on anything but the newer cards which we didn't realize until after the jam. Thanks again for giving it a try! We'll definitely be updating it after the jam in case you're interested in trying it in the future
this was sick, a little tuning on track layout, and maybe getting faster quicker and i think this would be an awesome full game.
100% agree on both of those! The track layouts were a first pass and we ran out of time to edit them. Even the speeds and track times were randomly selected at the time lol. We'll certainly be tweaking all of it to dial everything in for the post jam update, thanks for your kind words and feedback, loved playing through your game!
Your games presentation doesn't look like a jam game it looks insanely professional, everything from the art to the physics looks like a game I would've paid money for, and I think the unique control scheme is really cool. That said there are two issues I have though and one is a bug? It seems I can't make progress after failing a trial, the game resets and doesn't register me passing through the checkpoints :(. The second is that the game doesn't do anything to show where the next checkpoint is going to be, which means it is really hard to go through blind, there was a time in the 4th trial where I had to do a complete 180 to find where to go. I would suggest some visual like an arrow but I imagine you might be able to do something way cooler with the visuals. Otherwise I really enjoyed the movement, I just wish there was a clear track I didn't have to memorize to follow.
Wow thanks for the kind words and in depth feedback! Having an arrow was definitely part of the plan, but given more time I was thinking a minimap would be cool to help find the checkpoints. The track layouts were a first pass and certainly need tweaking as well, and I'm going to test a more hand crafted linear level to see if that'd be more fun. Thanks for playing our game!
A very fun and original idea with great execution, the music is perfect and you've all done an excellent job!
Well done!!
It's fun, it's wacky, it's everything I look for in a game, great job!
I always wanted to drive this after watching star wars back in the old days. Thank u for making my dream came true! Great work!
Great presentation, fun soundtrack and goofy animations. Nice job on making an unfamiliar control scheme fairly easy to understand, I'll be personally taking some inspiration from this
Amazing presentation, great graphics and badass music. The gameplay was difficult to get behind so I couldn't fully enjoy it, but I would love to see this get turned into a multi-player racing game in the future. Great effort, good job :)
This is so cool. What a neat concept. Unfortunately on my computer the controls were bugged: the left stick always controlled both thrusters and overrode the right stick inputs. I could get turning to work by doing unintuitive combinations of different stick inputs, but it clearly wasn't what the instructions said should happen. Not sure what's going on on my end, but I wish it worked properly because I can absolutely see the vision! I'm impressed with the amount of visual polish you all achieved.
EDIT: I got it working. Maybe it was steam? I made sure it wasn't running this time. Awesome game. It is really really fun. I could see this being expanded.
I'm sorry to hear you weren't able to get the controls working properly! What type of controller are you using? and did Steam happen to be open while you were playing? When we were trying to get it working with PS5 controllers, we discovered that the inputs would get modified/consumed by Steam running in the background.
I also had to manually map the raw inputs to get PS5 controllers working natively, but each type of controller has different mappings that will need to be individually implemented (even the PS5 Edge controller doesn't work with the normal PS5 controller mappings). Please feel free to submit feedback or a bug report from the links included in the game folder, and hopefully we can get it working for you!
This is seriously rad. The controls are unique and I think youre onto something. If you add something like a jump and a drift, you could have a super cool racegame on your hands. I think that an arrow in your hud showing you the next checkpoint would have been helpful but I found my way around! Thank you for the super cool game!
Thank you for the kind words! Absolutely want to add an arrow to the hud, seems necessary for the style of checkpoint rallies. I was definitely thinking a drift could feel badass, but a jump seems interesting. We may play around with the idea later on. Thanks a ton for playing our game, glad you enjoyed it!
Pod racer muscle car with skid steer controls on the unreal engine 5??!!!! I forgot who I was for a sec this is freaking awesome!
